We accidentally left our upright 20 cf frigidaire freezer door open for 24 hrs, all the food spoiled and now the freezer is not freezing and only cooling. Any ideas of what is wrong? thanks

Freezer not freezing

If you can hear the motor running it could be the thermostat that has gone or if there is no noise at all it could be the motor that has died, a good easy fix ( sometimes works ) is to turn the freezer off leave it for 24 hours with no power then try turning it on again.

Layed down freezer to transport in car for long journey left 4 hrs before start up working fine freezing but side edge behind door seal feels quite hot since

this is normal until all the freon has had a chance to get recirculated throgh the system.
make sure the evaporator fan is also working in order to properly cool the freezer.

I have a Frigidaire model GLFU206FWA upright freezer. The temperature control won't go above 10 degree F. This causes freezer burn on some foods after a period of time. Is there a way to regulate the...

Good day,
Manufacturers of freezers do not give the option of running the machine much above that temperature. Normal operating temperature for a freezer is about -2 to about 8 above F.
Otherwise people could accidentally set the temp too warm and cause a loss of food.
Some appliance parts houses carry universal thermostats that could possibly cover the temperature range your looking for, but 30 degrees is far to warm to preserve frozen food safely.

Left door open, closed next day, but only blowing cool air now

You will need to turn the unit off and let it completely unthaw. There is frost that builds up in the ducts and behind the panels when the door is left open that will cause the unit to not cool or circulate where needed.

My freezer doesn't seem to be freezing as well as it has in the past. somethings are frozen hard but ice cream isn't as solid as it should be

Try this... unplug...
take everything out and defrost the freezer
(go get a couple bags of ice and a big clean garbage can so you can keep the food cold)
you can defrost the freezer faster with a hair dryer
when you finish turn t'stat to high setting... put all food back in and dont overload and dont block any air vents (if they are located at top dont overlaod)
plugg in wait 24 hrs...
if you dont notice a difference let me know...

hope this was helpful

Freezer defrosted and the motor won't start back up.

From what I can gather, you have a self defrosting freezer and the "motor" you speak of is the fan inside the freezer. If this is correct, do this:
Unplug freezer. Unload all food into coolers or other freezer space. Leave freezer door open for a day to allow it to manually defrost. Plug freezer back in after minimum 24 hours and confirm fan running and cooling before loading back up with food.
