SOURCE: remove write protection on a walkman nwz-s616f
I had the same problem after using this product for a month, suddenly it showed the warning of write protection.
I even contacted the sony customer center but to no avail. their answer was of no help at all.
so here is what i did to make it work:
1) First install "QuickTime version 7.2" or later (you can download it from torrent if you are unable to register it, i.e. with a crack)
2) Then install "Windows Media Player 11 " (you can download it from torrent if you are unable to validate it, i.e. if WinXP not original)
3) Now install "Media Manager for WALKMAN" (a compatible software provided by the sony company to interact or communicate with the walkman), freely available for you to download at sony's website.
After the installation, connect the walkman to your computer. Now it should easily add or delete data from you walkman using this software or without it as well.
SOURCE: HELP ME PLEASE with my "sony walkman NWZ-B105F MP3 PLAYER."
make sure your downloading it to the right folder on the mp3 player its usualy the music folder or you can try and use windows media player here are some instructions for that option.
--**Windows Media Player**--
If you have a large playlist to transfer, you may prefer to do it from your media player, such as Windows Media Player. Once your MP3 player is connected to the computer, open Windows Media Player. Click on the "Sync Music" tab. Drag songs that you want from your Windows Media Library over to the "Sync Music" column to create a playlist. Click the "Begin Sync" tab at the bottom once you have all of the songs on your playlist. This action will sync all of the songs to your MP3 player with one click. Disconnect your device once songs have been transferred by clicking on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the bottom-right side of the desktop tray.

Hi hellohello21,
attach the supplied cable directly to the computer's USB port (don't use any other extension cord simultaneously). If that doesn't work, check if you've some problems with your USB driver.

First guess. you have a large library and just added something. it is rebuilding its index
Second guess: you have other files than just music on here. it is rebuilding the library and has to scan all the non-mp3 files. Mine takes about 2-5 minutes to boot after adding / removing files
