In word - I'm editing a document in "print layout" view and for some reason my tool bars have disappeared - the only way to get them back is by moving my mouse over them - its very frustrating
Right click on the "print layout" and uncheck the option "Minimize the Ribbon" .
In the upper left corner, there is the multi-colored "Office Orb." Beside it is the "Save" icon and then the "undo" arrow. To the right of those icons is a down arrow with a bar over top of it. If you hover, it should say "Customize Quick Access Toolbar". Click it and the bottom menu item should be "Minimize the Ribbon". Uncheck that to get your menus back to normal.

Thanks,

Have you perhaps resized the Word application to a larger size than your screen? Try maximizing the word window and see if it still happens. Just a very odd problem -- almost seems like your menu bar has become "pinned" somehow. I didn't realize that Microsoft provided a way to pin it -- possibly some shortcut keyboard command you hit.

The page margins appear in your document as dotted lines.
You can use these dotted lines to correct your margins so that your student's assignments are not cut off and there is no large margin as you have mentioned in your question.
You can view page margins in either Print Layout or Web Layout view only, and they do not appear on the printed page.
Hope this helps

Hi Chris - I will try it - but I don't think it will work because that "hides" or "unhides" the ribbon whereas mine is just disappearing from view while I'm working on the document and reappears when I move my mouse up to the top .... if you see what I mean!?!
