Bypass the video / audio of the DVD to the TV and see if the input works on the TV. If so the connection of the home theater must be checked once again.
Connect the video and audio correctly and switch to the same function connected in the rear panel. If there is no video or audio or one of them then the digital logic switching circuit can be faulty. Since most of the selection is done through LOGIC GATES this IC could have failed.
You will need to use a logic tester to trace and confirm if the rest of the amp works fine.
Also try changing the input ports.

You have to make sure the assignments between the picture input and output to TV are made. This is done through the settings. If the picture source is DVD player are you using component video or hdmi. Make sure the settings on Onkyo are defining this.

How do I get a picture on screen? Get only sound. I switch TV on and only get sound, but no picture.

  1. Have the TV be unplugged for overnight and then plug your TV back in and sometimes it might work and fix the problem .
  2. Unplugging your TV and everything hooked and plugged into it and then plugging it back again in may clear up the problem.
  3. Make sure that the TV is set to the correct input.

Picture went completely fuzzy. What could the problem be?

The tv CRT( picture tube) have a radiaton posion infected in ur tv picture tube. This is how u discharge the CRT(picture tube) get the posion out.Take the tv back cover off.Take video board that connected to the CRT(picture tube) out.Plug it in,so u have a live current to the CRT(picture tube).Find a wire like an AV cable, should be find. One side of the metal, grounded to the metal frame somewhere.Take a long needle plier grab the other side of the AV cable wire, not the metal,(Caution high voltage live current).Come very close to the open CRT(picture tube).U will have a live current arc, than u,will hear a big "POP".U,just discharge the CRT(picture tube). The tv now the CRT(picture tube),now it good,it clear of posion infected in ur tv picture tube. Now,unplug ur tv.Put ur tv,back together.Hook up ur tv signal cable and plug in ur tv,now ur tv picture, will be clear, completely.I do this many times to dicharge fuzzy CRT(picture tube). When i was a tv Tech.for the SONY TV Corporation.

New flat screen hdtv has a fuzzy picture

Yes you will get a better picture quality out of a cable box if you get an HD cable box.
The reason you are getting the diminished picture is due to the signal you are feeding the TV is an analog signal. The newer HD TV's are made for digital TV and this older technology shows all its flaws on this type of TV.

When you get the new box understand that the same channels you are getting plugged directly into the tv are still going to have some grainy look to them but the good thing is that a lot of them are starting to be rebroadcast on HD channels and that is where your new toy will truly shine.

Enjoy your new TV...

Good Luck...

Dvd player

Hi, where you plug the dvd cables into the tv determines where the picture will be seen; Example, if you plug the dvd players yellow, red & white cable into the tv`s "input 1" then you go to the tv`s "input" or "tv/video" button and push those buttons to get "input 1" to come up on the screen and you`ll see the picture and hear the audio, it`s kinda like a file folder in your computer, you`ve got to find the file then open it to see the contents. If your tv is on channel 3 or 5 or whatever you won`t see the picture because the picture is in video not a tv channel
