Copy all data to another HDD and do a full format.
A full format means that when windows asks how to format your Hard Disk drive Select the normal NTFS format.
Do not select the Quick format option and format the entire HDD during windows installation.
Do not format the drive in FAT32.

Can you still access the laptop internal hard disk? If so, merely back up everything important to another computer and run CHKDSK to test your internal hard disk. Of course, performing a full formatting process there also can help resolve some simple hard disk problems.
But, if you cannot access the internal hard disk right now for some reasons, like RAW file system error or more, you can firstly go take your left drive data out with computer hard disk file recovery software and go format it there.
Hope these words could help you somehow.
