When you smelt this was the fan in freezer off? If so it is most likely in defrost mode and the smell is from frost melting and hitting the heater in the freezer. The hot on the sides and in the center. Is this outside the box? If so this is normal. There are coils inside the frame of a fridge that stay warm to eliminate condensation. Sometimes they shift and get too close to the wall and thats what you are feeling.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact.

Hot spots on door and side of frig

www.viewpoints.com/Samsung-RS2630SH-review-fe12- HELLO, what is taking place is resistance is building in these areas because you have strip heaters in the doors on the freezer and refrigerator door. This keeps any moisture from turning to ice. There is not a lot that you can do or that I can lead you to do with this going on. Some heat is normal as they are heaters. But, if these spots are hot to the touch, being that this is a expensive and new box, I would call the manufacture and ask questions to satisfy you. I would not worry about this unless it is to a point to where you can't touch it, smell any electrical or burn smell, but not to worry as they have many safety controls to keep anything from burning up as I didn't want to scare you. Some units use hot freon liquid or gas that runs through coils in the freezer to keep ice from building up. I have done some research on this model, and it is a very common complaint from new owners. The factory is saying as I said not to worry, a normal condition with this unit. If you start to loose any cooling in either compartment, to call them. I added a link for you on this unit as there seems to be a lot of complaints on this model. I pasted it at the top, so I hope you read my info before going there. Please keep me posted on the outcome and I wish you the best
Sincerely,

Layed refrigerator on its side to move waited 3 days plugged it in worked fine for 3 days then electrical smell and it doesn'tget cold. can i fix it

Fan motors are great item to give off a burning smell when failing.
You have one in the freezer compartment behind the back panel.
You should be able to hear it when you open the door to the freezer.
A second motor is behind the cover panel at the bottom rear of the machine near the compressor. Failure of either motor can cause no cooling, and a burning odor.
There is a calrod heater located in the freezer compartment behind the real panel that can short and burn, but it would not immediately cause rapid cooling failure unless it burned a hole in the evaporator causing a total loss of refrigerant. ( I've seen it happen, but it's rare). Beyond those items wiring runs throughout the machine and can be suspect especially if the machine was transported on it's side. Refrigerators should always be moved in an upright position.

I'm sorry that I don't have a solution, but we have the exact same problem with an older model KitchenAid side-by-side. Did you get this problem solved? If so, can you share what you did?

Freezer not freezing and burning smell

it may be the compressor overheating it could be the relay but if the compressor is hot then you are low on freon and need to have it recharged

Fridge freezer over heating and is not cooling fridge section

It is normal for the middle strip to be hot. Did you check the temp setting in the fridge section?
Also - you might check for blockage in the bottom. Excessive dirt/dog hair can block the air flow.
Good luck

Kitchenaid Side by side refrigerator/freezer

when is the last time you cleaned the condenser coils the areas you describe are supposed to be hot there is a loop there to keep the door gaskets dry but should not be too hot pull the fridge out check to see if the fan is running on the compressor then unplug the unit and clean the coils the only other thin that will make it super hot if there is a leak in the low side of the system and has drawn air in see if cleaning the coils fixes it first and we will go from there
