My camcorder has been sitting for at least 6 years. I charged the batteries and began playing old tapes. At first they played fine. Now they play almost in slow-motion with the audio going in and out

The only thing that you can try to do yourself is to run a head cleaner for about 5 to 10 seconds to see if that will clean up the heads. You might also try using direct power from an a/c adapter if you have one. Batteries that sit unused can go bad over time. Other than that, your mechanism may need repair or repairs may need to be done on the connections between your mechanism and your main pcb. Over time, those flex cables will oxidize and not make good contact with your board. These types of repairs should be done by an experienced technician.

Hope this has helped you.

My camcorder hadn't been played for years and put it on and played after halan hour it flashed up dew clog and battery in red. Wat happened

They don't like moisture on the heads. Remove battery, remove tape(?), leave it somewhere warm, like your hot tank cupboard for 24 hours, charge the battery and try again. Make sure the tape is warm and dry as well.

DCR-HC26 will record but will not play

There are two solutions, one, buy a mini dv tape player. They are kind of expensive, but you will be able to get your information off your tapes. Second, buy a used, working mini dv camcorder on ebay and use it to get your information off your tapes. A five year old camcorder is not work fixing.

My tape player in my video camera isn't working anymore...

repairs will cost close to replacement and - it will be older ( needs new heads , probably ); buy a new one , and get a repair quote on the old one - or ebay it , for parts ;
