Do i need to keep power to my Navman N60i as i change the battery,or is it ok to remove the battery and place the new one in. Will i wipe out the memory.Thank you.

yep! The fuse should have been 1 amp to protect it and the voltage was probably higher than 12 v and unregulated. Goodbye GPS its a total write off now. Cheaper to buy a new one.
There are two small screws on the bottom of the case. Remove these and pry open from the bottom carefully. Note that yhe case surrounds the USB jack so take care with that side of the case when opening. The speaker is on the back part of the case and is connected to the motherboard. As you remove the back make sure to disconnect the cable before you pull far and tear the connector - it's small.
Battery runs low within minutes - so need new internal battery!
