Sharp Portable A/C Model CV-P13PX rattling fan. HELP. I took the casing off to get a good inside view of the unit, but the fan is encased and looks difficult to access. I know this thing is the culprit, b/c when on only fan mode, problem is very clear. Thanks.

Hello...to repeat, I was ONLY ABLE to remove the ai rconditioner's plastic casing. I am NOT able to see the fan, it is encased/housed at the top of the unit and appears difficult to access. How do I remove the fan casing? Do you have service manual for this specific unit? This is the 13,000 BTU model, not the 10,000 BTU. (Don't know if there is much of a difference, just want to be clear). Please understand I am NOT AN EXPERT so please be simple in your explanations and define technical terms. Thank you.

I have a Sharp portable a/c model CV-P13PX. The fan has begun to rattle and make a lot of noise. I have taken the a/c unit's plastic casing off, only to discover that where the fan is located (at the top of the unit) is, for me, inaccessible...at least without proper instruction. I would appreciate some advice. If someone could be simple and specific in how to get access to the fan, it would be the first step towards solving my problem. A service manual would be very helpful. PS: I've had this thing for barely 2 years and make sure it is clean...clean filter regularly, etc. I feel like the fan has never been quiet and has just gotten worse, especially since I've read more customer reviews online. The thing sounds unbalanced or is hitting against something. If no one can offer SPECIFIC advice for me, please say so.

First check the fan bearings/bushings for wear. Then look at the fan blades carefully that there are none that may be loose if riveted to the boss and that the boss is secure on the shaft. Lastly make sure that all the blades pitches are exactly the same and that the blade run in the same arc - none bent out of line. Any diffefence in pitch or alignment will cause the fan to run out of balance.

Sorry no, I have no specific information on your unit, I was working on general solutions related to the symptoms you described, but from what you have further said, it sounds like it might be a centrifugal blower, in which case most of what I have related will not apply, bar the bearing/bush part. If it is a centrifugal blower with a series of half tubes making up the impeller, the chances are that dirt accumulation in some of the vanes might be causing an imbalance. The whole blower would come off as a unit and will probably not come apart, but if removed, you will be able to see the impeller and clean out the scoop like vanes.

How do I remove plastic housing from Sharp CV-P10MX portable air conditioner to clean dust from inside.

It should be clipped on with a type "S" clip. If there are no screws visible, gently work all sides and pull towards you.

I love my Sharp CV-10MH Portable Air Conditioner but I'm afraid to use it. After a while it starts to make a noise I'd describe as a CLATTER or a RATTLE. Before I use it again I must know that this is not...

I had the same issue of filling up after a couple hours but mine started making some pretty loud noises as well just before shutting itself down and lighting all three lights. The top drain valve would no longer work and the only way I could drain it was through the bottom (gravity) drain valve. I took the unit apart and found that the simple water pump that is used for draining and the evaporating process had lost the thin filter screen on the bottom and the screen became lodged in the impeller of the pump preventing it from spinning. I removed the worn and broken plastic screen, carefully pushed the impeller back up on the shaft until it bottomed out, and cleaned all the built up sediment off the entire pump. After reassembling everything, the ac unit runs like new again and the noise is completely gone. Cost? $0
I imagine you can just order a new pump from sharp and save the time and effort of cleaning the pump.
Hope this helps!

Strange rattle when microwaving

Chances are the blade assembly has come loose on the shaft of the internal cooling fan.

This can be solved with a couple of drops of super glue at the spot where the blade and shaft meet, then allow it to dry for several minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you'll see the cooling fan.

Please let us know what you find.

Rattle sound

It's probably a loose stirrer fan or possibly a failing stirrer motor. Both are located above the plastic stirrer cover in the top of the cooking cavity.

If you or someone you know decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.
