My gmc 1998 turns on but it turns off if accelarate

My truck is 1998 vortec 5.0 lts 305 8 cilinders and it turns on and it runs but if I whan to accelerate more when runing it lows and if i push the accelerator more it turns off I have changed the fuel bunb, filter, distributor and rotor and it does the same, and I changed the presure regulator that is under the spider,

could it be that the pressure regulator is defective because it doesnt it doesnt emits smoke,

if the fuel pressure is good(60 psi), then check the ignition coil for corrosion

It is to the passenger side of the throttle body

yes it does, the terminals should be clean. if not you can try to clean them but replasing the wire and coil may be necessary

I have a 4WD 1998 GMC Jimmy 4.3L Vortec V6 and it started running hot then it shut off and wouldn't start back up... do you think there would be any way to fix without replacing the whole engine

IS THEIR WATER IN THE OIL? CHECK THE PLUGS TO SEE IF THEIR WET.YOU MIGHT PUT SOME PLUGS IN IT IF WET TO SEE IF IT WILL RUN.THEN PUT SOME HEADGASKETS ON IT.BUT IN REALITY NEW MOTOR WOULD BE BEST.

I have a 1997 1500 whit a 305 vortec motor can i put a1998 vortec 350 in it

as long as it is a 5.0 or 5.7 and still a vortec series they will intechange fine

You can use any 305 motor. Like you said you will have to exchange parts from your old motor to the new one. Just make sure you don't go to far back, because the old 305's don't have the injector ports. Then you would have to replace the heads also.

Untill recently GM didn't change much of anything as far as bolt paterns You could bolt up a 350 from 20 years ago to your transmission and motor mounts. But that is not really what your wanting to do. The question is do you have a "vortec" or is it TBI. The vortec motor says vortec all over it (they were pretty proud of it I guess) The earlier TBI motor, at first glace look just like the old carburetor versions until you take of the air cleaner and find a throttle body instead of a carburetor. The two are not interchangeable as to the electronics, they are way diffract.

Wont start

simpler that exposing the throttle body just depress the accelerator 3/4 and try to start.

If like before, the vehicle starts... watch the rear view mirror for black smoke

both indicates a leaking injector(s)
