I have a 2.8 Gallon Holmes Humidifier and it is great except I went to turn it on and now it runs, but nothing comes out of the top anymore. Any idea why?
There is a vapor lock when water isn't being used. Grab handle of water "jug" and move slightly up and down until air bubbles begin to rise. They should continue to do so after you replace the water compartment for a minute or two or the vapor lock is still there. I put the small cap from a hotel shampoo bottle over the piece on the bottom that is supposed to raise up the round disc in water compartment. It helps, but occasionally I still get a vapor lock and need to raise water compartment as noted above.
Not all humidifiers mist. If your humidifier's water tank is running dry every day or two, and the humidifier's not leaking, it's working fine.
Check the filters and the fan blade it may have come loose. Do you still hear the motor running? Get me the model number on the unit. Sorry it took so long to get back to you I have been sick the past few months.

I have the same problem, I checked the fan in the base, and it's running pretty good. It worked for a day or so, and after I refilled the tank, nothing. Please help.
I'm having the same problem. The fan runs, and cool air comes out of the fan and the top, but no mist.
It is like my water bottles keep getting airlocked, so that no water is coming out of them. The fan runs and you can feel air, but no moisture.
I have a Bemis model 4973 which is now showing the same problem as posted on Nov 21st. The tanks get airlocked and no water comes out when tanks are inverted in the unit. It's like a vacuum is created in the tanks which prevents the water from draining into the unit. The unit runs and runs and runs but because no water is being pulled through, it simply blows air, not moist air. As soon as the tanks are inverted and plungers manually depressed, the vacuum is eliminated and the air allowed in displaces the water into the unit. This only lasts a few minutes. Besides getting a new unit, what can be done to stop me from babysitting my unit?
Any other thoughts? It worked fine for several years, just recently stopped misting, and the tank is not emptying.
