I've downloaded every patch I can find at the Palm site, but my Tungsten E stopped syncing with Outlook when my office gave me a new Dell running Windows XP Professional, with Microsoft Office 2003/Outlook 2003. I've also done a hard re-boot to the Palm, erasing everything on it. Any other ideas? My Palm Desktop says version 4.1.4, and my patches include PalmOutlook101UpdateEng.exe and Outlookconduitupdater.
I also have encountered this: The issues, however, started after our enterprise at work switched the backoffice server from Win2K pro to 2003 server. All users received new Outlook profiles. I know there are hidden services for Palm bundled into the outlook profile so I simply edited the old profile to point to the new server and proceeded as follows: CPU was an HP Pavilion DV1000 laptop with Windows XP Pro SP2 with Outlook 2003 to a Palm Tungsten E PDA. Unit would not synchronize contacts or calendar, producing "Calendar Synchronization Failed" and "Contacts Synchronization failed" errors. Creating entries in outlook contacts and calendar did not show up on the Palm. Creating entries on the PDA did not show up in Outlook. To rule out windows profile corruption, I backed up the users profile data, deleted her windows profile and logged back in to create a new one, copied all of her favorites, documents and desktop information back to the new profile and tried again. No joy. I created a new palm profile to rule out issues with the users original Palm profile being corrupt or damaged. I verified the hotsync app was pointing to the correct palm and outlook profiles. To rule out issues with her outlook profile being corrupt or damaged I backed up her contact and calendar data, wiped that too and created an all new one and re-imported the contact data from a personal folder not connected to an exchange server. No change. I deinstalled and reinstalled the Palm software as well as the conduits for outlook. No change. I downloaded the new and improved conduits that were supposed to fix issues with outlook synch problems. No change. I finally backed up all of the data on her palm by creating a new outlook profile that was not connected to our exchange server at the company but rather a personal folder on the PC and once the data was saved there the data was imported back to the users mailbox. This didn't work but it allowed us to back up all the data on the palm and let us perform some experimentation with formatting the palm clean as a plate and trying anew with her account and profiles - no change. I found the errors only occurred when logged in as the user herself. If I logged in as me and started fresh from a reinitialized palm on her computer it would work. Amazing. I even found that creating a new local user account on the PC and pointing at her own outlook account on the mail server wouldn't work either.. But it would work for my own. After some brainstorming.... I believe that the issue is related to a corrupt e-mail box on the actual mailserver itself rather than an issue with the workstation or the palm itself since if I log in as myself, I can set it up and make it work. I can use a different account. It works. But it ALWAYS fails when we attempt to attach to the users mailbox on the server itself. So, some of these issues could be related to changes or problems on an Outlook mailbox th
Yes I moved my files to a new machine and reinstalled palm (which of course also created the dreaded multiple copies of many palm contacts, when palm discovered older archives, but that is another story!) I wouldn't mind that if the palm pilot would just sync with outlook 2003. It synched with Outlook 2000 on my old machine.
