When I turn on the camera and open the view finder door, the image you are veiwing and subsequently trying to photograph has colored verical lines across viewfinder area. Recording picks up those same lines. Playback with a pre-recorded cassette is fine.
No Prob...I had the same problem with my GR-D72U. There is a defect in the CCD image senser. JVC will fix it for FREE! All it will cost you is shipping it to them. Go to http://www.jvcservice.com/service/CustNoticeCamcorder.asp?PgReq=DspDtaDtl&MdlNbr=GR-D72US&Pgm=CCD , download the rapair request... Send it off to your nearest service center and they ship it back all fixed up in less than a week. I must tell you though, you ONLY have until Dec. 31 2008 to do this. Not only did they fix mine, they cleaned the heads but also buffed out a scratch. After you get yours fixed, post as many helps as you can to others.

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician. My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I’m semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs. I contacted JVC @ 800-252-5722 regarding this problem. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" from the automated attendent prompts. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of this problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call and get your name in the computer ASAP. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call to advise you of the charges.
It souunds like the problem is in the Vid-PC connection. I suggest you start by downloading the latest version of whatever software you have used to capture and view.
Also - uninstall any hardware in the PC that is used to capture (just remove from system device list) and then restart the PC and let it detect and re-install.
If you don't know how to do these steps, then you'll need geek help.
the clicking is from the capstain turning the tape -- and perhaps the metal cage holding the tape.. if it is bent then the movement of the capstain may be pushing it in an eccentric fashion.
If the view finder shows the same white display. You probably have display circuit problem in the camera. Faulty CCD chip usually shows Black screen so it probably board problem or a connector problem. If you see an image through view finder then you may have defective connection from board to LCD assy. Either way it need to be looked at by a trained technician. Good luck.
Elakkis,
I am sorry you are having a problem with your JVC camcorder. Your camera more than likely has a defective CCD imager which is being replaced by JVC factory service at no charge because of a problem with the Sony CCD chip being used. Call JVC and arrange to send the camera to them.
Hope this helps you!
