We have an "Orbit" Digital Media Player, DMP-768T.
The unit is a 7" LCD/TV/hard drive/FM transmitter etc. all in one. It was working fine, then one day the screen didn't light up. It has been set aside for awhile, and this morning I gave it a look see. It seems that the entire unit is working with the exception of the backlight on the LCD display. (The display is dark, but with help of a bright light, you can read the menus and get around.)
Everything else in it seems to work, including the hard drive.
Some searching has found the manufacturer to be the Shenzhen Orbit Co., LTD in China. They don't list this unit on their site -
http://www.china-orbit.com/index.php at all, and other searching found me hard pressed to locate more than reviews and the item for sale around 12/04.
I would be glad to open this up and repair it, but do not really have any clue how to repair an LCD backlight. If it's something like a loose cable, that's fairly easy.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I had similar problem and I opened up and replaced the L-shape (usually) back light that I got from other wreck, where the DVD reading lens was not working but the backlight was working. Usually it is not that fairly easy to check any loose wire, bcos there would not be much loose wires. Try, you may be lucky.

Hi Mike, did you got your DMP 768T fixed or it is the same. I have mine only TV working but the DVD part is not working at all.
