Hi,
I have ordered a Q5997A feeder kit for my HP 4345 MFP LaserJet printer. But the instructions were not delivered with the feeder. These instructions are not available in the printer manual which only asks to refer to the instructions delivered with the feeder kit.
Do you not where to get these instructions?

The red light on the startup-button indicates that the machine is not ready for a photocopy. Usally there is something stuck in automated document feeder (ADF). Take a close look and see if can see something in the paperpath. If no luck, try pushing a A4 sheet manually through the ADF and see if something comes out with the sheet. Usally there is a small piece of paper, a paper clip or a staple stuck in the ADF. If nothing found in the ADF, the Scanner Controller Board is probably broke, and needs to be replaced. Good luck.
Never mind, I noticed the model in the subject. Sorry, it is Monday morning. Ideally you need to order a new ADF Maintenance Kit and replace the parts in it to maintain optimal performance of your printer. It comes with a pickup roller, separation pad, mylar sheet and instructions. After you replace the kit, or if you just want to reset the message and ignore it for another 90k copies, do this:
1) Turn the machine off and back on.
2) When XXXMB appears on the control panel display, press and hold the 6 button until all three LEDs flash once and then stay on. (This could take about 20 secs to happen)
3) Release the 6 button and then press the 3 button twice.
4) Press the 6 button to select NEW DOCUMENT FEEDER KIT.
After doing this, the MFP will complete its initialization sequence and the counter will be automatically reset.

Dirt. Open the ADF, the top of the scanner/copier. The ADF glass is the thin strip of glass on the left. Damp cloth with windex or any glass cleaner. Scrub the strip of glass.
To reset the maintenance-kit counter
1 Turn the MFP off and then on.
2 When the memory count appears on the control-panel display, press and hold 6 until all three
LEDs flash once and then stay on. (This might take up to 20 seconds.)
3 Release 6 and then press 3.
4 Press 6 to select NEW MAINTENANCE KIT.
5 The MFP completes its initialization sequence. The maintenance-kit counter is automatically reset.
