Hi, I am looking to update my bios on the intel e210882 which is on a emachine 5250 i have installed some new memory but the pc crashes after a few minutes running other numbers on the board are d33025 and d915gva would be great if someone can help as i cant seem to find the latest bios anywhere.
You really should contact Emachine support. I looked for your model # 5250 among all their various model ' series ' with no luck on my end. I also thoroughly investigated the Intel website for your motherboard model # and that doesn't show up either at least not as written by you. I did find on the Japanese Intel website a model that was very similar tho. It is written as D915GAV, not GVA and the website for reference is very hard to read by most West Europeans and Americans. So my strongest recommendation is to go with the first link to Emachine support. I'm sure they can be of some help to you.
robin704 is giving out the same answer on all responses trying to get a high rating with spam answers. Please consider that when rating people.
Give me the link that Emachine gave you, if you don't mind. any information at all might be important when looked at by my eyes.
So far as I can tell unless this new link says differently, I have not been able to find the exact model # you indicated in your first post, nor does the motherboard model # match anything I can find. Don't give up tho, because I am not giving up. Check my profile and you will see that I don't quit until you do... and 99.99% of the people we talk to here do not take the time to develop the necessary discussion to a logical ending.
I am amazed that Emachine would pawn off their job onto ' Techguys ', but I shouldn't be I guess with the behavior of Fixya lately, I should accept it with a slave like devotion to the so-called inevitable.
Well I am certain of one thing and that only because of my extreme experience level with computers, motherboards, bios, DVD/CDs, and hard drives, etc, etc. plus my unwillingness to accept foregone conclusions from anyone. I find it extremely unlikely that Techguys could possibly do more then I can unless they have their hands directly on your computer. An experienced tech on your end could provide extra insight into the issue that I can not draw from you or assume on my own.
The main issue seems to be the motherboard model # while conceding the lack of information from Emachine. The information you have given indeed points at a intel motherboard with the main difference being the last 3 characters of the model #. What I personally don't like is the inability to understand the Japanese website that I have already found and absolutely no information on a 915 motherboad on the American Intel website. I would rather not install a Japanese bios into a motherboard that is going to be used by a non-Japanese as I have no certainity that the bios would be comprehensible by English speaking people. I have a guess that the bios could well be in English, but I don't know that to be a fact.
If you don't mind, lay low on this problem for at least two days while I think about it and try to do more research. Normally most any bios research problem would have been long over by now, but Emachine and this motherboard classification is making things far more difficult then they should be. Done for now, I will leave a reply if I find something and even if I don't within two days.
I have been to limited in my thinking processes, working on to many problems. I want you to re-install your original memory and run SciSoft Sandra Lite. Among the listing on the results of a run of SciSoift will be an indication of what SciSoft thinks you have as a motherboard.
Also during the very earliest part of the computer boot up in black screen ( pause ) and write down the Bios string that should be visible in the lower left or maybe right hand corner of the screen. Generally speaking this Bios string will consist of letters and #s sometimes with part of the model # and date of the bios. It all depends on the manufacturer.
Try to get both results to me as soon as possible and please make no mistake when jotting down the BIOS string, every letter and # counts. Give me a heads up by sending email to hantoyo1ATyahoo.com. I will be leaving Korea shortly and would like to get this resolved before leave
No email yet, at 1450 my time, I'm about 12 hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Daylight Time. I don't know where you are, but you must be up late is all I can say.
Should not go trying to install a bios update UNLESS you know for sure that it is the correct bios for that motherboard. Installing an incorrect bios on a motherboard will basically destroy motherboard in many cases. And now you say that you have performed that function twice using two different bios updates with NO ill effects???
You have to be one of the luckiest people I have ever seen.
Anyway, there is no way that you have motherboard with TWO model # on it.
Have you looked at this Intel site and this site.
They cover both boards and there is a two year difference in the two boards. That is a long enough period that both motherboard might not use the same processor. Consider that. Damn lucky it's still running. Are you sure that the two Bios updates did not install.?
GET the BIOS STRING, Run SciSoft Sandra Lite, but unless you know for sure that neither bios update actually installed, you have invalidated the TRUE bios string, and SciSoft Sandra gets its information from the Bios String which would make SciSoft's info invalidated also.
I'm working on it buddy, be patient
Well, to make it short and not so sweet, Intel is saying without question that you will have to get Emachine to ante up. What happens as it does with other OEMs, like Sony, HP, Acer, etc, is that the OEM will get a motherboard company to build special versions of a motherboard that only the OEM ( in this case Emachine ) will have the priviledge of installing into their systems. This way the OEM owns all the stock of a particular motherboard and anyone needing a replacement board will have to go through the OEM, not an outside vendor ( which would create competition for pricing etc. ). This also means that Emachine has ALL information for this motherboard and that they basically flipped you off the other day when you talked to them. I kinda thought they might have but didn't want to say it without some proof. I think you now have the proof that Emachine needs to open their eyes and hears to you and support their product.
Intel is saying that this is NOT a stock Intel motherboard, it was built to be sold by Emachine ONLY and all information on the board belongs to Emachine. That is what it means.
I'll be leaving Korea tomorrow and it's midnight here now so we did at least finish this troubleshooting before I had to leave. Buddy I can't do any more for you now. It is up to you and Emachine to come to terms with this situation. What we do know tho, is that it is some varient of the 915 board, just not a stock Intel board. And you have no idea of how happy I am that you didn't ruin the board by trying to install the other bioses. Most motherboards would have accepted you installing another bios update and you would not have known how badly you had screwed up until you tried to boot back up. Usually in those kinds of cases you don't get a second chance to correct your first mistake.
Sorry I can't do more.
Carlito, are you afraid to talk to Emachine? Is that the reason why you
gave me the TFT when the Spammer robin 704 keeps a ' helpful 'who only
give the same answer for each and every response he makes. You are so
incapable of applying the bios string ID in conversation with Emachine
to force them to tell you what motherboard that is? So I guess you want
me to talk to Emachine for you? Remember something, I didn't buy the
Emachine, you did, and as a result you have the responsibility of
conversing with the people who are supposed to be supporting your
computer.
No one and I MEAN NO ONE would have helped you as much as I have, so
TFT just don't get it. One day you will need somone like me again and I
hope that someone sees your true face.
Unofficial help website for Emachine computers, bios IDs and model #s given to those that ask nicely.
Technically I'm not supposed to send you to another website like this but I happen to believe that your computer is more important then those kinds of rules.
Sorry you don't appreciate me the same way.
