this could be your cable box or tv causing it. First try the tv. On the remote go into menu look for video settings. There though be a setting called aspect ratio. This should be set to 16:9. If that is set correct then try the same with the cable box remote.

Have you tried going to menu then to video options, screen size should be in that menu, also have got a zoom funtion on the remote, if so try using that. Do you have the owners manual, if not I will try to find a copy in PDF file format, just let me know.

Have you tried to re-set the Aspect Ratio from either the remote control or going into the Menu setting & changing the picture size?
This is the settings for changing different size of screen formats eg 16:9

Look for the aspect button on the remote.

Refer the user manual to your TV and check how can you change the aspect ratio of picture. Changing aspect ratio will change the height of the picture.

Go into menu with remote control & change picture size. Depending on which station you are watching you may have to change it to suit your viewing preference. They transmit in different sizes

Do you use a satellite dish or cable? There are 2 different ways to control picture size. One is through the TV itself but there is sometimes also a control through the dish. For DISH network it is format on the remote. You may want to check if that setting is set to zoom or a setting like that. If it is, the TV control of the picture won't change anything. Please locate Zoom/ Picture Format button or option in Menu to adjust picture size.
If Zoom or similar button found on remote, press it repeatedly to get full screen picture.
Model and brand of your TV is not posted so button/ function name could be change as manufacturer use different labels for same fucntion.

I have a Toshiba 50HP15 PLasma flat screen TV. Its been working tone for 2 years now. All of a sudden without warningm the right 1/3 of tghe picture is missing and is black, where as the other 2/3rd of the picture is great picture and in HD. When I press DISPLAY on the remote control is says FULL 720p. When I press the Picture Size button on the remote the message NOT AVAILABLE come on. Anyone with suggestions. Thanks
