HotSync Outlook 2003 with Tungsten E

Outlook 2003 Calendar does not Hotsync with tungsten E. Contacts Hotsync works fine. Current software and update have been installed and reinstalled. Conduits are set correctly. Also Palm request a reset after each Hotsync. Very Frustrating. Have spent hours trying to resolve. Ready to ditch Palm device.

My Palm Tungsten E2 will not hotsync to my laptop that runs on Windows 7. I've tried downloading the 6.2 drivers but I keep getting that 6.2 is incompatible to my laptop system. Has anyone resolved this issue? I've read things about a "sim card" but I'm not advanced enough to know about sim cards, where they are on the unit

I tried all the suggestions that were offered and gave up. But then out of pure craziness I loaded the treo 600 CD that came with my Treo 600 out of curiosity. It loaded and the MS Office 2003 conduits loaded nicely and the problem appears to be solved for now. So I tested and it the Tungsten E Hotsync's feature all appear to be okay. I'm not sure if this is the best solution but it solved a very frustrating problem. The version of Hotsync that loaded is 4.1.0. Hope this helps.

I cannot sync my Palm Tungsten E with MS Outlook.

  1. Step 1 Install the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
  2. Step 2 Use the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm Tungsten.
  3. Step 3 Open the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
  4. Step 4 Turn on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA. Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know the progress of the synchronization.
  5. Step 5 Unplug the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is available on the PDA.

I had the same issue.  I finally upgraded to the current version of Outlook.  That seemed to solve the issue for me.  Syncing a palm is not easy.  I will never buy a Palm again.

Tungsten E - HotSync with Outlook 2003

Don't skip the initial HotSync for secondary computer! Alright, I figured this one out on my own and figured I'd post what I'd learned so that others don't have to endure the teeth mashing, hair pulling, snarling frustration. (self induced as it may be) My experiences have taught me to not always trust a cookie cutter installation wizard...especially for custom app installations (ie: primary = home, secondary=work, total sync, no priority). So, I did not perform the initial sync during installation of the palm software fearing that the new installation would NOT recognize that the work computer was a secondary machine and resultantly wipe out the old palm data from the primary machine. Turns out, as I saw in many other unrelated posts, that it's difficult (if not impossible) to specify conduit direction to outlook 2003 outside of the initial sync (this prompted me to specifically look for conduit direction during install). So, this wizard is one I should have trusted...by mistake...because of weak program design. By the way...once I specified sync with outlook during the initial sync, EVERYTHING works fine despite not having installed the two "imperative" conduit updates (they were uninstalled after several previous failed attempts at this). Hope this helps

How do I copy address book and calendar from Tungsten E to Outlook?

In order to synchronize with Outlook you need to setup the replication to be with Outlook instead of Palm Desktop. On you cd there should be a third party piece of software (Chapura). Install the required software and follow the instructions.

How do I fix double entries after Hotsync

Manual unduplication in Outlook. Everyone who synchronizes databases has to deal with dupes once in a while. Here is a really excellent method for manually removing the duplicates within Outlook. It looks complicated but it is really easy to do. The principle is this - every record created in Outlook has a creation date/time stamp. When your data got duplicated during a HotSync operation, all of the duplicate records bear a date/time stamp of that synchronization - usually all the duplicates were created within about one minute of one-another.

Outlook not synching

This is how I got it working. Don't use wireless sync software, someting is definitely buggy with it. Here is what I did to resolve sync errors: 1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm 2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old. 3. Connect the Treo to your computer. 4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom. Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld. 5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now

T5 Outlook Calendar Synchronization failed - Any one have a fix?

I went to the MY COMPUTER folder, clicked open PROGRAM FILES, open PALMONE folder, open the username folder and deleted the back-up files. However, before I did this I deleted all of the problems dates in the PC calendar and set the hotsync to PC overrides handheld. While this works, unfortunately I have found that I need to do it every once in a while which is very disappointing. It seems that Windows does not operate seamlessly with the Palm T5. I find that the hotsync crashes 50% of the time forcing me to reset my Palm T5. No information is lost, but it is really a pain in the *** to have to do so often. Versamail hotsync sometimes freezes on the handheld, but that is another issue which I have managed to fix much in the same way as describe above.

When synching new Outlook calendar items, a "note" is added to the T5 calendar item

I have the same problem. T5 Win XP Home HP Pavilion Desktop Outlook 2003. It seems to only attach the blank notes to recurring appointments. Delete them all (which is annoying) and they come back after a HotSync

Sync fails with "too many open databases"

This is what I did to fix that error:

Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)

After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
