Lift the scanner lid and then open up the ADF (document feeder) mechanism off to the left.
There's a small glass under the ADF mechanism, and it needs to be cleaned.
Use a glass cleaner like Windex sprayed onto a lint free cloth to clean it.
That's it! put the ADF back down and close the scanner lid!
Problem solved!

SOURCE: black line on my fax copies!

You sure can - the issue is that there is something on the thin strip of glass where the copy goes through from the feeder at the top - follow these directions and you should clear the problem right up.

Sounds like it could be bad cartridge or scanner. Try replacing cartridge first cause this is pretty easy to do and is alot cheaper.

SOURCE: Lines in copy print

Its not a printer Issue, but its application issue. you will need to uninstall the printer first. then get the drivers those are compatible with the operating system that you use and install those new drivers.
reboot the computer and thats all.
Problem fixed.

Brother MFC-7820N Printer--vertical lines

You need to clean the scanner glass. Also known as the strip glass. It is a 1 inch wide strip of glass that runs from the front to the back. Your documents pass over this glass when they are scanned. Some of the wax crayon probably smeared off onto the glass and now when you scan the scanner sees these marks as stationary and thus records them as solid lines. Just look into the scanner section where your documents are fed in or depending on model, some are just to the left of the large original glass.
Good Luck and thank you for using Fixya.

When the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) to copy I

There are two scan modes when copies are made. When you make copies through ADF you originals go past small **** glass located to the left of the main exposure glass.Any small mark on this **** glass( correction fluid mark, ink mark, small scratch, dust particle and so on)will show as a line on your copy.So to get rid of these vertical lines on your copies you need to clean this small exposure glass.
