Scanner Dear Sir, 1) We have a hp scanjet 2300. It is working properly except the lamp does not work. 2) Please let me know where the lamp is located and how to check the lamp and replace it if it is broken. Also please let me know if there are any instructions with pictures available that we can use to repair or replace the lamp.

it means the lamp does not work , try to restart the scanner ,
if still lamp off , it means faulty scanner lamp

Hi! I had a same issue with another HP Scanner model. I was not able to repair, so I ask my company to buy a new one. I know that it can be repaired as ething can, but as I undertand this issue occur as the head of the reader is not scrolling in the glass as expected and it can be for differnt reasons or power supply is not work properly.

first check all your wires make sure nothing has come loose.

unplug the power supply wait a minute and re power scanner.
Also, turn off you PC and restart it.

retest your scanner
if it still does not work then..

next try reinstalling your scanner driver software on your computer.

If these beginning steps do not work please write back for further diagnosis.

Is the scanner unlocked? Locate the lock switch on the bottom of the scanner.

while scanning a blue or red line appears on scanned imajes

First try a hard reset. Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on an HP Scanjet Scanner.
1. Disconnect all cables from the scanner.
2. Lock and unlock any carriage lock.
3. Place the scanner on a flat and level surface.
4. Wait at least 5 seconds after disconnecting the cables before re-connecting any cables for testing or troubleshooting.

If the bulb is indeed fused, you will need to get the device serviced. This cannot be done by yourself, as the lamps are not sold separately..You can contact HP here:

Try unplugging the cord to the printer and wait a few seconds and re-plug the cord again , print what ya have to print again/hope this helps .
