I would not recommend you to do this. The batteries that are used for this application are a deep cycle battery. A regular battery may get hot and you will just have problems. Get the correct batteries for the unit. They take U1 32Ah 12V batteries.

SOURCE: Jazzy wheel chair

When a chair sits for a long period of time ( four weeks or more) without being charged, the batteries die. To help you with the freewheel mode I would have to know what model of Jazzy it is.

Look in your owners manual for the flash code anwser. Make sure when you hit the power button you only touch it for 1 sec not more. If you press the power button for more the 2-3 seconds you place the power chair in LOCK OUT mode. lights will flash and not power. also check your free wheel levers. one on each moter. Mike

Jazzy select dead no light

hi, Battery or batteries, is the on and off switch worn on the joystick controller part ? have you checked the connection where the cable goes into the actual controller , check the fuses located on the battery leads if fitted... Please take care when carry this out and it's important you don't short a battery...

I test these units free of charge ...

My batteries in my jazzy select gt power chair are dead can I buy used ones?

Not a good idea to buy USED power chair batteries. Even new ones just have a 3-4 year life span. But yes, you can buy used batteries.

My jazzy was sitting for a year, without battery charge. now, the batteries won't charge. what shoul i do?

I strongly suspect your batteries are dead. The unfortunate part is that the gel batteries used in power chairs will not usually take a charge after they are completely depleted. The only solution is to load test the batteries and replace BOTH of them even if only one tests bad. ( I think you'll find that both batteries are dead)
