Until yesterday we had a fanatastic Picture on our Pioneer 434HDE set in HD. We plugged in a cheap Blu Ray HD machine and suddenly the screen said ' This TV does not support this input'. Now we cannot receive HD channels and the picture is only being received via the RF signal through the SKY box. Its as if something within the receiver has been affected. can you help? We have been through the menu but nothing works. Pam Hurley-Morris

SOURCE: My Pioneer 503pu/ 5030hd which

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

SOURCE: My Pioneer 503pu/ 5030hd which comes with the 503u

Wish I knew, have one exact same trouble. Have checked all supply voltages which are correct. It appears that the screen and media Rx are not passing data after turn on, there are no transitions on any of the SDA SCL lines, all are in a high state +5V. There are transitions on them at boot up. I am using a Kworld KW-SA295-Q DE box, has a DVI-I output that provides a great picture on the monitor / screen. I believe the PC/IF board has the problem, but have not found one to substitute to test.
Also the receiver is not set to any of the default conditions.
The tuners are active but are not tuned to channel 2 the ICs not controlled by the data buss all pass signals. My thinking is that the control software has been corrupted. I found the training guide on line that has part of the procedure for upgrading the AVC System software but it is incomplete. If anyone has the info please post or send via E mail shalopt2 at juno dot com
or a known good PC/IF board that I can use for additional testing. There is no OSD as it is provided by the media RX PC/IF board.

SOURCE: My 50 inch Pioneer Plasma does not have a picture.

Hi,
This is an indication of faulty I/O circuitry in the main tuner board. This is responsible for processing the inputs (tuner, HDMI, etc) and feeds to Audio/Video IC which is in this board also. This board is repairable only at the service centers because the IC's and other parts are surface mounted and quite sensitive. I would advice you to replaced the entire board for your convenient.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional or sent it in to isolate the problem.

Also, check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the back cover will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

Pioneer vsx-5231 not pairing with Phillips bdp-2175 smart bluray player

have you tried to connect the Philips direct to the TV's hdmi?

Could be the resolution on the bluray is set to 1080p which may be out of range for the receiver or even the TV for that matter. If you can reset the output resolution of the bluray to 480p first, just to establish a picture then try 720P which all HD tv's and receivers can handle.

I did a quick search and could not find the resolution reset procedure for this unit. Other units will reset if you press and hold 2 or more buttons together.

My Pioneer plays DVD's and Blu-Ray but will not show the T.V.

Most likely its in the Media Reciever as the tuner is in there. If the set is showing a good picture on other inputs then that would be my guess. Pioneer has a flat rate to fix these and you may call their customer service to find out how much and where to send it 1800-421-1404 or plasma hotline 1800-421-1625

How to connect BLU-RAY DVD player to Pioneer Plasma TV via HDMI

The best possible solution to your problem is :
Connect your blu ray player directly to the HDMI input of you Plasma and watch HD video....
and connect the 5.1/7.1 sound thru the optical or the coaxial link directly to your AVR 3805.
You will not loose anything on the Blu-Ray.
The sound is best processsed by the AVR3805, while the video, which is the real upgrade (BluRay) in terms of resolution of picture would be processed by your plasma.

Connect and Enjoy
