SOURCE: install CD for sj20

There is a wonderful website that provides installation CDs and Palm Desktop software for Sony Clie models that Sony no longer provides support for. I was able to get the Palm Desktop software with Clie drivers for my TJ25 from it. The website is http://www.sonyclie.org/. I'll bet they can fix you up!

SOURCE: Sony Clie PEG-N760C hot sync with Windows Vista

I had the same problems. I downloaded PalmDesktop Win62.exe update from Palm.com and it recognized my USB connection, did away with the port error and hotsynced immediately. I messed with that thing for 3 weeks before I finally tried the update. It says it's not for the peg-n760c, but it works! I don't think they want you to update, but rather buy a new pda. Good luck!

SOURCE: My sony CLIE PEG-SJ20 is

I had the same problem with my clie peg-sj20 on my vista home basic based laptop. I could not hotsync after installing the original software. I've never tried to use my pda with this setup before so I was trying to find a way to make it work when I found this post, figured I would reply with what I found.
My Sony clie peg-sj20 runs the Palm o.s. 4.1 software and apparently Sony no longer supports this model. So after trying to hotsync and letting the Windows vista install wizard find the proper software, it suggested contacting the manufacturer of the operating system. I went to the Palm websight and downloaded the Palm o.s. 6.2 software which is compatible with vista, even though it doesn't say it supports the sj20. After installing it I performed a hotsync during setup when I was prompted to do so, and it totally worked. I'm not sure if this version works with other applications but it enabled me to hotsync running vista.
Hope this helps someone out there. Good luck.

SOURCE: I can't get the Clie PEG-SJ20 software loaded on my computer

Word is out that OS 6.01 can be installed for SJ20 to work sync in Vista even though Sony hasn't listed it as compatible.

The list of contacts is empty in OE 6

I know that when a large number of entries in the address book in OE (more than 999) contacts disappear. Check the number of contacts and liberate the place.
If with number of contacts everything is normal then it is necessary to restore them through Address Book Restore Toolbox. Here it is possible to find it http://www.addressbook.restoretools.com/
If nothing helps, then read the forum and look for there advice

Can't create new messages and create new contacts.

If Outlook says it's corrupt them you gonna have to create a new one.

Try to do a backup of everything by doing a Export from Outlook to backup.pst

If this doesn't work then you will have to re-create your Outlook client and YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR E-MAIL INFO.
Or,
Go to TOOLS->EMAIL ACCOUNTS->VIEW OR CHANGE EXISTING ADDRESS BOOKS OR DIRECTORIES and remove the "Personal Address Book", then restart Outlook and see if you are still getting the error message.
Try to install Recovery Toolbox for Address Book http://www.outlookexpressaddressrecovery.recoverytoolbox.com/

How do i save my phone contacts on my computer

For Windows:

- Open i-tunes on your computer that you sync it to
- Plug in your phone to the computer
- open "Address book" window's address book program. Its under start-programs-accessories
- Back to iTunes, click on the phone icon on the left
- Click on the Info, and under "Contacts" (the first one) check "sync contacts from" and then pick "Windows address book" or (Outlook) from the drop down menu
- Click all contacts
- Then at the bottom right of iTunes, click "Sync" It will ask you if you want to merge or replace. Make sure you select "MERGE" or it will delete your contacts on the phone.

You have to be careful what options you choose when syncing contacts. With Windows you can sync with Outlook, with the Mac you can sync with Address Book. Always choose merge so it doesn't wipe out your phones contacts.

If you want to upload for the first time from your computer to your phone, there is an option at the bottom of that page where you can replace what's on your phone with what's on your computer (in Outlook or Address Book). It's a one time option.

I highly recommend exporting your contacts from Address Book and backing it up on another drive, or emailing the file to yourself.

I have a palm centro and change to iphone. how can I move?

My wife and I just bought an iPhone and wanted to transfer our contacts from our Samsung i500 Palm phone. All the instructions I found online suggested going through Outlook, but that didn't work for me for a variety of reasons. I found this other method that worked really well.
  1. Bring up Palm Desktop. Make sure your Palm phone is sync'ed up. Show the Address page, select all contacts (Ctrl-A), and export them with File, Export vCard... This puts all contact information into a single file as a sequence of vCards.
  2. Bring up Windows Address Book. You can find this in Start, All Program, Accessories, Address Book.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, drag the vCard file you created in step 1 to the Windows Address Book window. I had never used Windows Address Book, so it was empty. If yours isn't empty, you'll have to decide whether you want to merge your contacts.
  4. When you drop the file, you'll get a window asking you to confirm the first contact. Press OK. Another window will come up for the second contact. Press OK until all windows are gone. It's easiest to hold down the Enter key.
  5. Bring up iTunes with your iPhone plugged in. Go to your iPhone page, to the Info tab, and configure it to sync from Windows Address Book. Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the window.
  6. Sync your iPhone. Verify that your contacts transferred over.
  7. Tell iTunes to stop sync'ing with Windows Address Book, since you probably only wanted a one-way sync. Your contacts will be backed up anyway by iTunes, so the Address Book sync feature doesn't buy you much.

OR

Sync your palm to outlook, then sync your outlook to your iPhone. It'll grab the outlook contacts and calendar.
