ViewSonic VA550 problem with horizontal blurryness (by 2 users)

posted by degofreak on Aug 29, 2008

I was given a VA550 for free. Cool huh, until I started having problems about 2 months ago. When I first hooked it up I had no problems, but recently, after the computer is turned off for any amount of time, the screen is distorted with horizontal fuzzy lines. When I use the buttons on the front of the monitor, the screen that pops up has no fuzzyness at all, but any info running to the screen from the tower has the fuzzy problem. After it warms up for a time, most of the lines clear up. I tried changing the refresh rate from 65 to 70, and that helps occasionally, but today it had no affect. After leaving the monitor and computer on for about 4 hours, it looks perfect. Any ideas?

"resetting the settings from the menu..." Resetting the refresh rate? The resolution? Which menu? Your answer is somewhat ambiguous... It doesnt have anything to do with the sharpness or brightness because it works well with the setting options on the monitor itself, just not with any info sent from the cpu.

Yes, I have the same problem...fuzzy horizontal lines. The monitor, itself on screen adjustment display does not show these fuzzy horizontal lines. Only information coming from the PC shows these lines. Of course, I tried a different PC and a different VGA cable. The problem appears to be in the video circuit of the VA55O. I also substituted the external power pack. I still have the same symptoms. I am hoping someone might be able to tell us it is some bad electrolytic cap on the circuit board. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

try resetting the settings from the menu ....

if the sharpness or the brightness is high you may feel fuzzyness ..

and also just have a check is there any magnetic field placed near by the monitor if so take it some what away and then give deguass option ....
