HP Photosmart C6280 printed image on page is crooked. When printing on photo paper, the image is misaligned (crooked) on the page. The printer used to print correctly. It prints on 8-1/2 x 11 OK. Could this be the paper I am using (Epson photo paper glossy, 4" x 6", 3 star)? If it is the paper, is there a way to realign the printer?

Hi,

Follow the solution below, sometimes its a simple matter of removing the trays and checking for paper in the way that may have fallen down behind the trays, also the rollers maybe loose or dirty or old, a good way to clean them is with a slightly damp cloth or some sticky tape, (this gives them some grip). Follow the link below anyway and best of luck!

SOURCE: How do I realign my hp photosmart c4480 printer?

To align the print cartridges from the HP Photosmart Software
1. Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
NOTE: If you have colored paper loaded in the input tray when you align the print
cartridges, the alignment will fail. Load unused plain white paper into the input
tray, and then try the alignment again.
2. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings.
3. In the Print Settings area, click Printer Toolbox.
NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog
box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab, and then click
Printer Services.
NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog
box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab, and then click the
Printer Services button.
The Printer Toolbox appears.
4. Click the Device Services tab.
5. Click Align the Print Cartridges.
When prompted, ensure plain white letter or A4 paper is loaded in the input tray, then
press the button next to OK.
NOTE: If you have colored paper loaded in the input tray when you align the print
cartridges, the alignment will fail. Load unused plain white paper into the input
tray, and then try the alignment again.
The product prints a print cartridge alignment sheet.
7. Load the page print side down on the right front corner of the glass, and then press
the button next to OK to scan the page.
When the On button stops flashing, the alignment is complete and the page can be
removed. Recycle or discard the page.

SOURCE: How to print 5 X 8 invitations on an HP Photosmart C309a printer

I think it's more or less the same on Mac or PC. Hit Print in your software, then when the dialogue box comes up you should see several options settings. There will be a pull-down menu that lets you choose paper size. (This menu is sometimes buried in another sub menu called "printer options" or something similar. It can be tricky to find this in some apps like Photoshop). Just select your 5x8 size and then at the top of the dialogue box you should be able to save it all as a preset. Pull down the "preset" tab and select "Save As..." then you can name it and pull it up each time later.
Hope this works.

Prints on partial page of an 81/2 x 11 photo paper. Prints OK letters fm word.

Instead of using the Letter or factory 8 1/2 x 11 page set up, create a custom page size for 8 1/2x11 and use that in your app for the page set up. Double check your page orientation and the size of the photo you are printing. It sounds like it may be trying to tile the photo because it's too large for the page size.

How can I enlarge pages and print them across multiple sheets of paper on the hp photosmart c6280 all-in-one printer?

Use photoshop (or similar) to enlarge the photo to the size you want. Then cut it up in photoshop to fit the printers paper size.
Then print each individual part of the photo.
Is that what you wanted to achieve?

HP photosmart C6280 when i printed photo on plain paper the color came out is original color., but if i using same setup and printed on photopaper , the color came out not true...pls help this...

The process is different for photos than for plain paper.
It is likely that one of your colors are not printing, probably one of your `light' colors. You can perform a `nozzle check' by using the menu on your printer. This shows you the colors that are printing, and whether they are printing correctly.
If you are using refilled ink, that could easily be the issue.
Try performing the printhead cleaning, again in the menu on your printer. If that does not work, try replacing the ink tank for the faulty color.
If none of this works, it is likely that the ink delivery system is cracked, a common problem in these models.
In this case, replace the printer.

I am trying to print 4*6 pictures on c6280 from my Apple PC. No matter what settings I ask for it pulls the paper from the 8.5*11. How do I set it to print 4*6 pictures?

Hi, It senses the size of paper you put in the tray, that is if you have placed A4 paper, that is what it will use. Options are, use 6*4 paper or print 2 up on A4. To use 6*4 paper raise the paper tray and then pull out the photo tray. If you can't follow this, go to http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01150745.pdf

The tray selection is not listed well in the index, but the informaton you are looking for is probably found in pages 38-40 which deal with using the photo tray.
