Hi Cheryl,
to do that open the freezer door, remove kick(toe)plate, on the left side under the hinge you will see a plastic union coupling the tube from the resevior to the tube inside of the door unscrew that union and pull the tubing apart. BE PREPARED for some water in the tubing to come out onto the floor and possibly all the water in the resevior may also come out ontothe floor so have a few towels ready

I see the coupling, it has three sections. Which sections unscrew? It nit coming apart easily and u want to be sure that I am disconnecting the correct sections and not
    simply breaking the plastic.

the section on the left is the one you should disconnect, unscrew it in a counterclock wise direction while holding the center section, it should not so tight that any tools are required but it should come apart fairly easy(will be snug at first then loosen) you can use pliers if necessary

Where do I direct the hot air from an hair dryer to thaw out the water line in my hotpoint side by side refrigerator ?

Hotpoint ref.
made by GE
There is 2 different place they freeze up inside door water line for cold water dispenser & water feed to ice maker.
for cold water disp. Water line depends on model # will start at bottom of door loop over the disp. control and back down from top of control to cup area to defrost this line best way is to shut down ref and leave door on freezer open can take up to 12 hours.
taking door apart is a major project.
If its your ice maker fill tube easy fix turn water supply off.
on back of ref. there is a water line going up to the top of freezer
this tube will pull out from back the whole fill tube will come out
take to sink thaw with warm water replace tube You may need some caulk to seal area tube meet ref.

Hot point model hss25gfp. can get water at coupling but not out of door dispencer . ice maker works fine. When coupling is disconnected and water is depressed water flows fine from the coupling.

The water line is frozen in the door .Turn on the dispenser light for several hours , or , use a hair dryer aimed up into the dispenser , or , use compressed air in the tube going up into the bottom of the door ( computer cleaning bottle with a small tube ) , or , air compressor hose at the bottom of the door tube , or , order GE dispenser heater kit pt # WR49X10173 ( it comes with instructions ) . After you get it working , turn up ( warmer ) the freezer temp only slightly .

Refrigerator makes ice and dispenses ice, but does

could be valve, it is located underneath on back. it also could be the mother board. Check valve with ohms metter. Also make sure water resevior or water lines are not frozen inside refrig section. Also water feed line going up through door bottom hinge on freezer is not frozen. Disconnect at couplin at left bottom front and blow through line

Water to door stopped. I replaced filter. Still no water to door.

the line could have froze in the door,or you have a bad water valve,go to the back of fridge, disconnect the water line and hit the dispenser to make sure it's the valve,if water comes out you know the line is iced up,if it is you can use a hair dryer and heat up the door where the bottom hindge is half way up the freezer door and hit the area where the ice dispenses out the door,

How can I get the water line out of the door to clear or replace it?

The water line on HSS models , cannot be removed . They are set in the door , then liquid insulation poured into a small hole , thereby , permanently installed . You can plug an air line into the bottom of the hose , below the door , to clean out . After disconnecting the coupler .

Hotpoint side by side water button does not dispense water. Ice buttons work. Tried a hair dryer on it and works temporarily. then stops.

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws

Hotpoint HSS25GFP: No water coming out of my water dispenser

GE has an issue with the water line freezing in the door. Try turning dispenser light on for 24hours the heat it generates warms the line. Also GE has a heater kit available

Water dispenser is extremely S L O W

check no ice build up in bottle but the most likely cause is poor water pressure on the inlet. no cure except to improve water pressure. if there is a valve in the input water line, check it is fully open

No water thru door

Sounds like the door area heater is not working and the tube is freezing up in the door near the dispensor. Try turning off the unit for a day with the door open to see if it suddenly starts working again. That would lead you to believing it was a freeze plug. Rarely does the line kink in the door.
