Fridgidaire Front Loading Washing Machine Yr. 2005 , control panel when I set it to start a load and push the go button makes a Grrrr noise and then states "do" on panel. We had a power surge yesterday and this machine is not on a surge protector.

The "F1" error code on the Whirlpool cabrio is quite common, and generally has to do with the control board. Replacing the control panel may resolve this issue. However, I believe Whirlpool is aware of the F1 issue with the Cabrio, and is fixing some machines for free. Mine did that and had to have the washer re-balanced.

you should have a pause or stop button, if dial push button in, rearrange the clothes to be more balanced in the washer, then push the pause button again, or if dial push it in......hope this helps.....

You can try unplugging the machine for a few minutes and then trying again. Sounds like the control panel may be out though. Good luck

2 possible issues with your washer.
1 or both the support shocks or springs have broken
the drum would look off center even when empty
or rear bearring has worn out.
this is a very common problem with the fridgidaire washer... (this kenmore is a frigidaire model)
problem is caused by very hard water (well water) or improper use of detergent. this machine uses a High efficency type detergent, marked by "HE" on the detergent container

sorry no recalls on fridgidaire front load,,there pretty good units,,the mildew and slugg comes from not using he or low suddsing detergent..now dont move so fast ,,because a new spin basket may not solve your problems with noise..check that back tub bearing while you have it a part..now that unit is fresh and new ,,clean the unit every other month with bleach..hot wash cold rinse,,that will keep suds slug and smell out unit...onthejob

The Neptunes are hard to diagnose without being there, so here's my best shot. It is almost definitely the main control or the motor control. First I would open the top control panel, (three screws along the top of panel) and just make a visual inspection of the ccu located in the right hand side. If there are no visible burned components, I would check the motor control board located in the bottom right side of the machine for the same. Let me know if you need steps for opening the front of the machine. I immediately suspect the motor control, as there is a Neptune motor conversion kit depending on which specific model you have, I have replaced several to solve that exact problem.

Sure you need to lubricate. But change the belt, you get all sizes easily. The wiirring noise is usually when the belt is off, worn out likely.

You have to set your programme FIRST, then put the "on" switch. Try.
