I have a samsung f480 i but the screen is damaged on one side, but still works..... can i replace it with a normal f480 screen ? i have done so but the screen does not work ?

there might be some ic or chips inside mis contact, you'll need to bring it to service center for them to openit and re-solder the parts that is affected, if still under warranty then just bring there and they will do the fixing, there is no need to replace parts, a it is needed is re-heating or re-solder

You've probably found out by now, but I've been tearing my hair out to solve this and have finally done so today. Menu -> Settings -> Phone profiles. Then select the righthand double arrow icon for the profile you want to change (likely 'Normal' at the top). From the pulldown list at the top right, change 'Incoming...' for 'Phone sounds'. Scroll down to the bottom of the resulting screen (using the lefthand handset buttons if, like me, you have trouble scrolling) and set the 'Phone sound volume' (slider control) to '0'. Then hit 'Save at the bottom, and job done!!! Phew!!!!

The screen should keep working with the LCD cracked. i.e you should be able to receive calls.

this sometimes happends if you have knocked the screen a few times.
it also does this when there is water inside it i would recommedn you place it on your heater for 2 hours.
if there is a chip in the screen or the left hand side of the screen is smashed it will not work because the sensors will be damaged

there is a problem on the screen detector, you must consult it to the technician for him to fix it, he know about it
