Rechargeable batteries can and do just die without warning.Sometimes the charger does so as well. The charger automatically prevents overcharging though.

Realistically, all you can do at short notice is to try another freshly charged NB-6L battery. if a camera shop has a display model they might allow you to try their battery in your camera, or more likely, your freshly charged battery in their camera.

Recently purchased the Sony DSC-W290 and I have

how long do you usually charged the batt? to make charge last slightly longer leave the batt inside the charger for an hour after the charger light goes off. if you have a fully charged batt you should be able to take approx. 300 pics or 2.5hrs approx.batt life. for viewing pics it should give you approx. 6800 pics and approx. 5.5 hrs. of course, number of still images and and batt life may vary depending on the camera settings.so if you're zooming in and out, using the flash, going from camera to play mode, turning cam on and off, using other settings and features of the camera, this will cause the batt to drain much faster.also ambient temperature also affects batt life.if it's very cold, the batt drains a bit faster.also, it's recommended that if you're not using the camera to remove the batt.retaining the camera settings, date & time will cause batt to drain even if your not using it. if did this and still you think it's odd that your batt drains quickly and looses charge even if it's fully charge, it might also indicate that what you might be a defective batt. one way to find out is to try using the same type of batt from a friend or a relative that has one to confirm and further isolate issue.anyway, supplied accessories has the same warranty that applies to your camera.so you may send it out and have it replaced if needed.hope this helps.thanks:)

I have a sony cibershot camera for over a year now, it has always worked nicely, up until a month ago, it suddenly wont turn on anymore. I,ve already charged and re-charged the battery but nothing...

make sure the batt is charging and working fine.check also the batt contacts.make sure its clean.insert batt to your camera.instead of pressing the power button, press the play button instead to power camera on. if unit turns on,might actually be an issue w/the camera unable to power on in camera mode.if it turns on initialize cam (p.75 of the manual).see if it works.if still wont turn on try using a diff batt (or if you have an optional ac adapter model#acls5k use it, attempt to power on cam to isolate issue w/power source).if batt or ac adaptor not available try to check batt with another cam if possible to test batt. if still unit doesnt turn on using a fully charged, diff batt, or using an ac adaptor, unit would reuire service. hope this info helps.thanks:)

WHEN I WANT TAKE A PICTURE, MY CAMERA TURN OFF, AND DONT SAVE NOTHING?

It sounds to me that you're using the wrong kind of batt. or there is something preventing the batt. from working correctly.
It requires quite a lot of batt to generate a picture, so please follow these steps.

Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Turn on your camera without the memory card.

My kodak digital camera wont stay on!

Your problem could be the result of corrosion on the battery terminals inside the camera. Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, clean both ends of each battery, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

Battery pack

I don't know if this will work but it worked for my PowerShot A300.

Take a pencil eraser and clean the battery connections inside your camera. Just be sure not to let any eraser flakes inside the camera.

The Canon rep indicated it would work for the A300 ... Not sure why it wouldn't work with yours as well.

Good luck.
