I have had this trouble too, and the answer is remarkably simple - with the handset DOWN, press the [i] button to access the menu. It sounds like the error you had was from doing it with the handset off the hook. Hope this helps.

• Press TOOLS (the spanner symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen that displays WHERE TO and VIEW MAP) As it's not in English this may find a bit of trial and error but it should be easy enough to find.
• Press SETTINGS (the spanner symbol) or LOCALE (the blue symbol on models that don't have a SETTINGS icon)
• Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)

This brings you to a screen with 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD.
Press VOICE and select a voice from an English speaking country. Press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English or American English if you're in the USA.
If you press KEYBOARD while trying to find one of the other 2 above just select English also.

may be you have not finised the insallation of the driver of ther printer

there is a reset button on your garmin. carefully pry off the frame around the screen with your fingernail. Under there you will see the reset button. push it and then see if your problem is solved.
