My computer keeps saying there is something wrong with my sound card or audio device does that mean that it is something internal. I've tried the troubleshooting and even tried the control pannel settings.

if you cant hear anything coming out of your computer speakers there is something wrong here what to do
if your computer came with a disk the sound drivers could be on it
control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustments there or control
panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound video and game controllers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers
hope this helps

Media player

open audio devices and sound properties in your device manager. Is your sound card listed? If so, highlite it and select properties...then see if it is enabled...if not, click enable this device. If not listed, try re-installing it with install new hardware. Finally, if its there, but wont enable, remove the device and reinstall it. If all the above fails, replace the sound card if its not intigrated. if it is intigrated, buy a PCI Plug and play sound card and install it in a pci slot.

Am trying to call computer to computer but a message keep coming up saying that i do not have a sound card or my sound card is not turned on.

try re-installing the audio controller. Your onboard sound card driver may be corrupted. check device manager for issues. try downloading fresh driver from your computer MFG's website. If no dice, install a PCI sound card and that will fix the prob.

Good luck

No sound on my computer

I was having these problems on my daughters laptop only last night. I tried to re-install the graphics installer and no matter what option I chose, be it restore or re-install (the driver), nothing worked. In the end I opted to reset the computer back to factory settings which re-installed all the drivers and windows vista back to the original settings when I purchased the laptop. Any files that are stored on D drive remain, it is only C drive that is restored. So if you decide to do this, then I suggest that any important files that you want to keep, copy them to D drive first.

If you do want to do this, go to bios by pressing F2 as your computer boots and make sure that D2D recovery is enabled. Reboot the computer and when HP screen is shown hold down ALT and continuously press F10 this will bring up the recovery program. Before the recovery program starts it may ask you for a password. This password will be user generated and you would have chosen the password when you first purchased the computer. If you cant remember the password try pressing Enter as you may have decided not to enter one, or your may be given a reminder as to what it was. Or try typing in Admin.

I hope this helps.

No sound on my computer

you could try a number of things:

1. try to go into control panel and look for your sound device under hardware, make sure it's "enabled", and try to update the drivers for your sound card.
2. go to control panel, click on sound speech and audio devices, then click on adjust system volume, and then check the box that says place volume icon in the taskbar
3. If neither work try using the system restore feature and restore your computer back to a date where u know that the sound icon was still showing in the taskbar.
