I have a A-H500i system. My son recently plugged his ipod into the amplifier (despite being told it would not work. No sooner than he did the amplifier stopped working. We have taken it into an electronics repair centre but despite extensive investigation they cannot work out what is wrong and whether it can be fixed. I have also tried finding a replacement but they no longer do them. Any replacement needs to be compatible with the cd player and roughly the same size (because of the unit housing them).

Try to plug into different circuit, if it trips that breaker on the board then the appliance is probably at fault.
I must assume that you have not acquired something plugged into the same circuit as the fridge.

How are you trying to set the conenction up? Who is doing the discovering and who is being discovered?

Usualy indicates a Blown amp, plug headphones into the amp, if the headphone jack dousnt work either 100 perccent blow amplifier, most companies link the main amplifier to power the headphone port as well.

plug in his ipod into itunes and then press on your son's ipod and then click update that should get his ipod back to normal.

I can't find any mention of a special tool for spark plugs in my Chilton manual for that year and they are usually pretty good at letting you know. There are 2 different sizes of plug wrench's and maybe that is what they are talking about. When you order the new plugs have a look at them before you leave and see if your wrench fits. My co-worker fiddled around for a bit and finally we made it work. He plugged the amplifier into the jack for the phones handset, and then plugged the handset into the phone.

The headset we then plugged into the amp. This seems so simple, it would be great if I had been told this by our tech cupport team, maybe we would have had it hooked up sooner.

worst case scenario is that a circuit has broken inside. But your ipod will be under warrenty for a year from purchase.

Otherwise, leave the ipod to charge for a long time. Just leave it connected directly to the computer USB port despite not having any change in appearance. Also, don't connect it via a usb hub or through your keyboard. You will need to plug it into your computer directly.

You can also try entering DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

Then restore the ipod and update the firmware. Make sure you have the latest version of itunes installed. By checking through software update.
