Where can I purchase a replacement for crack LCD BOARD. The screen was hit with WI and cracked.
my toodler threw the remote at the lcd and it has a crack on the "inside". there is no picture, just streaks of color running down the middle of the tv. there is sound. can this problem be repaired, replaced or should I just get another tv.
I have a crack in the LCD panel of my 3 month old Sony Bravia TV. Ive been researching and it seems that the Panel itself is more money then the entire TV unit. How is this? To replace the panel cost up to $3400.00 dollars the TV was bought for $2900.00 I know there is a service charge involved but it seems uneconomical and un fair.
Tripped with remote in hand, apparently corner of remote hit lcd screen just right, and behold: no picture, just a crack mark with color streaming around it. Ins. co. (Allstate) says it is not covered. TV was purchased 3/07. The actual model is KDL-46XBR2 but it wasn't in the list.
I don't have a listing for your model, but it is not unusual for the panel to cost more than a replacement set. As another example, the replacement tube (CRT) for a 27" Sony set can easily be $700. This was when these sets were being sold for $350!! Parts is where these companies rake in big profits. Don't blame the servicer for this one.

It has caused a screen bleed of the pixels. There is no way on repairing this unless you replace the whole screen which will cost as much as the t.v. itself. As time persist, the lines will become larger as the crack will spread.
Tv LCD Screen panel now is crack or broken?Yes,tv can't be repair only can be replacing the LCD screen panel itself.Sorry tv now only worth as a salvage tv only for it electronic boards for parts, that it.Because tv will cost the same as a new tv,if tv require a new LCD screen panel.
Yes, thats correct. If lcd tv screen got hit by some thing then lcd panel got cracked and does show distorted lines or cracks instead of picture and lcd panel have to be replaced that would cost you 70% to 80% of new tv price. New TV is better option.
The short answer is yes, the screen can be replaced. The bad news is that the panel is not cheap. The part number is: EAJ36548001 and can be purchased from tritronicsinc.com for $1164.70 with a refund of $300 once the bad panel is returned. (shipping is extra)

The front glass is just a protector for the LCD screen. If your TV turns on and the picture looks ok (may be a little color variation around the crack if front glass is pushing on it, variation OK black Bad) If the picture looks within the range described then replace the glass. It is just a piece of standard glass and a pretty easy diy job. If the LCD screen is broken the repair will be more than the replacement cost. Sad fact US TV repairmen make a living wage while the workers that assembled you TV wouldn't be able to buy lunch here with what they made putting it together.
I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.
For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. LCD screens really break easily as you know. http://www.tv-armor.com

A couple of weeks ago we had the screen broken in our LG LCD TV when one for the kids threw something at the screen. We got a quote to fix it and it was going to cost more to replace the screen than what it would be to buy a brand new TV. We shopped around for a new TV, comparing LCDs and Plasmas. In the end we purchased a new LG Plasma, which had a thin layer of glass over the screen for protection compared to the LCD. We thought this would be much safer with a 4 and 6 year old around the house running amuck. And there seems to be no differfence between the LCD and the Plasma. Hope this help someone's problem.
