Yes, it does matter if correct polarity is to be maintained.

Black wire to brass screw on plug

White wire to silver screw on plug

If the plug has 3 prongs (grounding plug), the green wire goes to the green screw.

More info, let me know.

How to fix floor pedal on riccar 8850

Your 8850 is probably over 15 years old, almost all parts are interchangeable with the 8955 or 8925 model made today. You may need to replace the pedal if the catch has worn or broken. There is no wire on the. Pedal assembly but there is a spring that goes on the pedal shaft to make the pedal spring back after you push on it.

I have a clarke bench grinder model 1002. I have a light that I would like to attach into the wiring though the grinder wiring in it's base. The light has two wires, and the grinder has a ground that...

Attach the white wire on your lamp to the white wire on the grinder.
Attache the black wire on your lamp to the black wire on the motor side of the switch.
This will give the lamp power any time the grinder is turned on.
You can put a switch inline of the black wire to the lampp and it will allow you to turn it off when not needed

OR

You can attach the white wires together and the black ones before the switch.
If you choose this way you will need a switch as the lamp will be power all the time.

Hello, I,ve just bought an Italian designed 3 bulb 70's wall lamp. It has a 2 wire lead feeding out with 2 wire lead running from one bulb socket To the other 2 inside the casing. I'm trying to wire it...

Black or colored wire is hot
White is neutral ground
Green is ground. (not needed)

Lamp does not need the ground.
It needs one hot and one neutral. The order is probably not important but match the colors if possible.

Can you determine some way of telling which wire goes to the center conductor on each of the lamp sockets. (That particular wire,-- however it is identified-- (Maybe a tracer thread? in the woven insulation, or a colored thread indicator?) Or just figure out which wire is going to the center connector (not the socket shell)-- and that is what we call the 'Hot Wire-- or in your house wiring-- that will be the BLACK wire. (The white wire is the return,-- or as some might call it the Neutral. Eventually it gets back to the circuit breaker box as the 'Neutral or Ground wire.)
Does that help?

Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't - very unpredictable and most annoying

You have a loose wiring connection either at the plug, in the cable or at the switch. The most likely place is where the cable gets strained, at the plug or where it goes into the body of the cleaner. The switch could be faulty. Plug in switch on and move wiring near plug does it start? yes? then plug out check plug if you can or cut wire 2" from plug annd put new plug on.
If no leave it switched on Then try same near where cable goes in. If it stats get someone to remake connection into switch.
If no switch on and odd without touching cable. Does it start? if yes switch needs replacing. If no report back.

I need a wiring diagram for a rainbow d4c

Are you talking about the power switch. The new power switches have 4 wires sautered to the power switch, where the old ones have 6 wires that slip in and lock into the power switch.

The blue ones are for your power cord, and the black ones are for your vacuum motor, and your power nozzle plug.

Secure one motor wire and one power nozzle plug wire to one of the black wires out of the new switch, and secure the other two, to the other black one from the power switch. It does not matter which ones that you match together. Secure one of each of the power cord to the two blue wires from the power switch. It does not matter which one of them goes to each wire neither. It is AC so power goes both ways.

Use twist on wire nuts to secure the wires to each other, and put some electrical tape around each of them, after you secure them securly with the wire nuts.

It is best to secure the cluster of wires to each other with a pull tie, after you are finished wiring everything.

If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

Thank you,
Ralph

REPAIRING A BISSEL GREEN MACHINE, REPLACING PUMP. DON'T KNOWWHICH WIRES GO WHERE ON PUMP

hi

if theres only three wires , green, black and white then the green wire is a ground which goes to an exposed metal exterior screw on the pump. It doesent matter which way the black and white go, it will work either way but if when you try to attatch the connectors theyre harder to attatch one than the other then switch it to the most easier way to attatch. Make sure to connect the green ground wire, it is very important and always try plug the shampooer into the bathroom where the ground fault plug is- its an added level of security in case theres a ground fault.

It sounds to me like the power cord has a short. To test your power cord you need a multimeter. Test continuity threw the power cord, from the male plug prongs, to the wiring inside the vacuum. You should get continuity from one prong on the male plug to only one wire on the other end of the power cord. If you test one prong but get a readying on 2 wires, then it is crossed. If you dont get any continuity on one or more of the wires, you have a short. A common place for a short in the cord is the male plug, you can find a replacement male plug at a hardware store and cut off the old one. When wiring the male plug, black wire goes to the gold post, white wire goes to silver, and green wire goes to the green post.

If your carbon brushes on the motor are warn, then that could cause the motor to stop, but other parts of the vacuum should still work so I dont think it is that.

Hope this helps.

Fantom Twister

On my fantom cylone I use a 2 foot wire with small hook. Open bottom and push wire up the vacuum channels. There is also a channel that goes to the brush. Check for suction at hose. If none then your one of your channels going up are blocked. If you have suction at hose but none at floor brush then channel to floor brush is plugged.
