Hii, wel i got a system which is pentium3 in these system there are few files in the hard drive & i want to back up those files due to some reason i could not back up my files because my computer does not recognise or detect my flash drive & even am not sure whether my usb port is corrupt or not. so what i thought is since i got another computer which is pentium4 i thought is taking that hard drive of pentium3 system & booting into the pentium4 system but that was also worthless because the system was not booting up it was unable to recognise my hdd so i tried to perform a hard reset that didnt worked out then i reseated the hdd cable & sata cable that also didnt worked, again & again my system was restarting by itself then reseated the RAM... no good, so i disabled automatic restart.... didnt worked out, performed last known good confiuration nor even that worked & later at one point it given me stop error message 0x0000007b which as far as my knowledge i believe it is a software error since the system was not booting up i thought i would have to format the hard drive i got totally confused over here as i want to back up the files & it is not working any good for me, then later i thought of booting the system in safe mode that also didnt worked, i got pissed of later on that given up my hope started beliveing i cant back up my files, so i took out the hard drive & connected to the same pentium3 system & all of sudden u know what it is working fine now i got my hope back & i belive that i can still back up my files please please help me in this to back up the files... please let me know the reason why the hdd was not recognised in the pentium4 machine & if you have any way to fix this please let me know or email me the troubleshooting steps... i am waiting for your reply

The solution is simple: If you can access the internet with your Pentium 3
system, create an archive file (.zip or .rar) of the files you want to save/backup.
Upload it to Megaupload or Rapidshare. Download it from any other computer.

My Western digital My Book WD5000F032 has been working fine for years. I shut it down and disconnected it one day and now it wont connect to the computer again...I have tried two other computers with now...

The sweeping noise usually means the drive cannot read the first few cylinders and can't finish starting up.

This can be due to drop damage causing an impact on the pallets, a failing head on the drive, a failed pre-amp on the arm or even a few circuits on the PCB board that are involved in the process.

Generally this type of failure would require the help of a pro to recover files off.

If this is just a backup drive and you have all you original files intact simply replace it and back your files up onto the new one.

If this had important files on it that aren't backed up elsewhere and you need a pro, reply back with your location(Country, State, City) and I will connect you with a nearby pro who can assist you in a lab environment.

Hope this helps FixYa,

My gateway laptop 4540gz cant find opp system

Operating system is the main program of the computer. It can b easily detected by your computer in boot up. So if the computer doesn't detect it, this are the steps you can try :

  1. First try to run system restore if you have one.
  2. If you don't have system restore disk, or back up disk, you can remove your hardisk from your laptop and try to connect it to other computer as an external hard drive. in that, you can copy important files and back up it in other computer if it is not also deleted.
  3. Then if you have back up your file or not, you must format your hard disk. return your hard disk to your laptop and format it.
If you don't know how to format just ask again here.

PAGING FILE ERROR ON HARD DISK DRIVE

You don't install backup files; they're just files.

What you want to do is back up files to a portable hard drive. Then you want to find the backup files on your D drive and delete them.

The biggest commonly available flash drive is 8gb. That's enough to back up your word processing documents and such, but not enough to back up your entire computer. It's may not even be enough room to back up just your music files.

A 1tb external hard drive runs less than $150 now, mail order, delivered.
