The front driver side brake makes a clicking noise when i apply the brake when i apply the brake harder the noise does not happen i replaced the rotor and the noise is still there what can it be

A grinding or rumbling noise can also be symptoms of a wheel bearing or constant velocity joint in a driveshaft. A worn wheel bearing can also cause a 'whistling' sound (as can a worn CV joint).

A grinding noise with brakes is either worn pads causing metal to metal contact on the brake disk/rotor, or the brake backing plate catching on a spinning rotor ... or a loose/missing anti squeal brake shim (they stop the pads from rattling and vibrating).

However, as you say a mechanic has looked at the brakes and can't find anything wrong .. I think I would begin to suspect a wheel bearing or constant velocity joint on the driveshaft (front wheel drive cars).

YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE HARDWARE . THE LITTLE CLIPS THAT MOUNT ON THE CALIPER ARE LOOSE ALLOWING THE PADS TO CLICK

If you have eliminated the noise coming fom the rear brakes, then the sound in front could be the wheel hub or bearings. When the brakes work, there is a certain amount of centering that happens when the brakes grab the rotor. Also, it puts stress on the CV joint to have Brakes on one side and Transmission Torque on the other.

You need someone to check these 2 items for roughness.

There are many possibilities that can cause car to make noise.

It's actually from where the noise is coming from. Front end or rear end. From engine area or from inside the steering or from brakes.

It might be your front u-joint or cv joint, at the drivers side front wheel.

I'm guessing you DID resurface the rotors or replaced them? On the bearing make sure it is not overtightened. With the car lifted can you turn by hand and listen?
Not positive about brakes I've always understood they bleed like regular brakes but I would consult a repair manual or dealer (just ask service advisor) Good luck!

thee are shims that cme on the car new if these are not there it will click when brakes are applied

try the rear wheel hubs the noise will travel true the car making it sound like it up front

hiya may i suggest you inspect the front brakes pads and discs for wear and discs for damage /scoures considering age of vehicle? when was last service inspection on brakes etc? if you do not feel competant to check brakes ? quite understand you could pop along to nearest national tyres depot and ask them to check brakes as above and also driveshaft cv joints for wear as these cv joints also give clicking sound when driving tyre dpot do not usually charge to check but will try to obtain job and give you a quote! if you have diagnosis and £££££?quote ? by all means come back with update and glad to offer help and advice if you wish ? hope this helps you as to probable cause? either way repair/s will not be too expensive best wishes
