PUK code stands for pin unlock code. It comes when you enter wrong code for your pin code three times. It is a security feature of your sim card to avoid unauthorised access.
When you enable pin code on your sim card, your phone automatically asks for pin no. when switched on. If the pin is entered wrongly 3 times. It locks the sim, and asks for PUK code. The PUK code needs to be obtained from your provider. If you enter PUK wrongly 10 times, your sim card will be permanently blocked and you will need to obtain a new sim card.
