Update your OS to XP service Pack 3 from microsoft.
If your operating system do not have any service Pack(SP) ie minimum SP2 yet, your M/S office 2007 will not function.

You can open docx extension files only with MS Office 2007. If you wish to open it in earlier versions you have to save it again in compatible mode. Click on File (top left most corner with the logo), Save As, Word 97-2003 Document. Just using Save option will save your document as "docx" and not "doc" document.

Both office 2003 and 2007 are compatible . It would be nice if you install office 2007 as it has loads of new features. Its even more convenient to work in.

RESOLUTION loadTOCNode(1, 'resolution'); This issue is resolved by update 946691 for the 2007 Office system. You must install update 946691 on you computer before you install 2007 Microsoft Office suite SP1.
