Broken zune My 80GB zune keeps displaying the "3: Please Wait" screen for hours at a time. Every couple hours it will move to the "2: On your PC, open Zune software and restore device firmware" screen. As soon as it does this, I immediately open the Zune software and click device to restore the firmware but when i click on "device" it says "To view this setting, connect your Zune", mind you, the Zune is already connected. So basically my problem is that my computer does not recognize that my Zune is connected, however, it does charge fine, but as soon as it gets enough battery, it displays the "3: Please Wait" screen again. I have tried restarting it and everything else suggested from the Zune website, so if anyone has any new or different ideas I'm open to anything at this point. Thanks, Mike

I want to start over with my Zune Model 1089. I want to clear everything off of it and start over. Please help....

1. Slide the "hold" switch so that it is in the unlocked position. 2. Press the "Back" button and the top of the Zune pad at the same time and hold until the device resets and begins to power up. Release the buttons when the Zune starts to power on. 3. Immediately press and hold the "Back" button and both the left side and the center of the Zune pad and continue to hold until the Zune restarts. The phrase "Please Wait" will appear on the LCD screen. Release the buttons.
4.Let the Zune continue resetting. It will clear the contents and eventually display "Connect Zune to your PC" when it is ready.
5. Connect the Zune to your PC via the sync cable. Follow the prompts given by the Zune software to completely restore the Zune device to the factory settings. If you have downloaded newer Zune firmware, you have the option to restore the Zune firmware with the latest version.

How do I restore my devices firmware for my zune 30gb

How to restore your Zune device software:------------
When you restore your Zune device software, the startup partition and the data partition are removed and rebuilt. In addition to removing the Zune device software, this process also erases all audio, videos, podcasts, and pictures that are stored on the Zune device.
Warning To restore the Zune device software, you must have a Windows-based computer that has an Internet connection. That computer must have the Zune software installed. And you must be able to connect the Zune device to a USB port on that computer by using a Zune Sync Cable. Do not perform the following steps if you do not have any one or more of these things immediately available.

After you start to restore the Zune device software, you cannot again use the device until you complete all the steps. You will not receive any confirmation or warning on the Zune device after you start the following procedure.

To restore the Zune device software, follow these steps:
1. Set the Hold Switch to unlocked.
2. Press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press and hold the top of the Zune Pad. When the Zune device begins to power up, release the buttons.
3. Immediately after you release the buttons in step 2, press and hold the following special button combination, depending on your Zune model:• If you have the 4GB Zune, the 8GB Zune, or the 80GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune Pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen.
• If you have the 30GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen.

Note "Clearing contents. Please wait" appears, followed by “Connect Zune to your PC."

4. After “Connect Zune to your PC” appears, connect the Zune device to the computer that has the current Zune software installed, and then update the device to the current Zune device software.

Error code c00d124d appears on my zune while sync

You may have to attempt a Hard Reset if this issue is persistant.

This will erase everything on your device, as a warning please be certian you have backup copies or this is a last resort.

Here is the original post:
WARNING: A hard reset will delete everything on your Zune.
  1. Press and hold the back button
  2. Press and hold up until it reboots
  3. Depending on which Zune you have, immediately do one of the following:
    1. If you have a Zune 4 GB, Zune 8BG, or Zune 80GB, immediately press and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press the right side of the Zune pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following message: “Clearing contents. Please wait.”
    2. If you have a Zune 30GB, immediately press and hold the Back button Back at the same time that you press the right side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following message: “Clearing contents. Please wait.”

Zune will not charge screen is blank just want to save hard drive

you can plug it into an ipod video board (if it's a zune 30) or ipod classic board (if it's a zune 80gb). then you can use a tool like sharepod to pull the music out. but you'll have to open the devices up there is a guide on how to open the zune. this is not easy without breaking things though.

Zune 80 gig will not start

My 80 Zune has a frozen screen as well... This is ludicrous! Well this is how this problem should be resolved:

  1. Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.
  2. Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain—this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.
  3. Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that's 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).
  4. Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.
I cannot believe the savvy programmers for Zune did not identify this problem in advance... Well I guess we are all human lol... Can't wait to begin listening to my music again!

Have a Happy New Year!

My Zune is Not responding

after much research on this matter in the past few hours. To resolve this situation don't shut the zune down by holding play/pause button it does not shut down properly that way.

Hold down the down & back button down until shuts off....zune recommends as the best way to turn off your zune. Also if you are having problems holding charge, a lot of people replaced the original charge plug and found that it worked again. these cables usually become faulty from previous models and 30gigs. So buy a new cable & shut it down correctly.

Still no worky??? Call zune, within 1 year they will accept it for repairs. They may even send you a new refurbished zune...since they no longer are making the 30 gig...probably for those reasons.

I hope this advice not only helps you but myself. Who wants an expensive paperweight...not I!
