My hp-compaq dx2300 microtower restarts automatically when working. It is installed on win xp sp3. Please let anyone help if solution is known.

Hi names Rui, i question for you does your PC give a beeping sound when you turn it on? if does can you tell me how many beeps it gives?

if it give a designated number of beeps this might be the problem i will give you a chart so you can differentiate the warning beeps you hear.

warning beeps:

1 Short Beep DRAM refresh failure
2 Short Beep Parity circuit failure
3 Short Beep Base 64k RAM failure
4 Short Beep System time failure
5 Short Beep Process failure
6 Short Beep keyboard control gate A20 failure
7 Short Beep Virtual mode exeption failure
8 Short Beep Display memory read/write test failure
9 Short Beep ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 Short Beep CMOS shutdown read/write error
11 Short Beep Cache memory error
1 long, 3 short Beep Conventional/Extended memory failure
1 long, 8 short beep Display/Retrace test failed

hope this will determine the problem if none of this warning beep is heard try reseting the power botton in you PC cause sometimes the power botton will loosen cause of continuous use of the botton.
