SOURCE: i need to know a fuel oil ratio.

Regardless of what the manual says once adjusted your saw will perform better with this mix.
Do you need bar oil? Available at any Hardware or Home Center.
Fuel/Oil Mixture

  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL suppliers recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 2gal premium/8oz chainsaw 2-cycle engine oil - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (1gal premium/2.6oz Stihl 2-cycle engine oil)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few weeks. Anything over 1.5 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

What is thesharpening angle for mac cat 330-839 chain

25 - 30 degrees looking down on top of the chain.

Drop the handle end of the file no greater than 10degrees.

If the chain has been sharpened more than 3 times please check the "height" of the "raker" in front of the chain tooth on the chain.

As a general rule these rakers have to be lowered to allow the cutting edge of the tooth to "bite" deeper.

How do u set the darb screws on a mac cat 839 chainsaw

Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. Start the engine and allow to warm up. Open the throttle and adjust the H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes at speed unloaded, but 2-strokes immediately when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust the L jet screw CW for better idle, yet allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust the idle speed screw so that the engine continues to run, but the chain doesn't try to turn. Hope this helps!

I have a Mcculloch 16in maccat 35cc chain saw

Does the chain turn freely by hand? Is it being oiled properly? Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Does 'feathering' the choke make any difference? If it helps, try turning the H jet needle CCW about 1/4 turn which should make it run more rich and 4-stroke until you are cutting which should immediately cause the engine to 2-stroke. Hope some of this helps!
