Try the flash drive on another computer to see if the problem is the drive itself. The drivers for a USB flash drive are built-in on Windows 7, so the problem is NOT that the drivers aren't loaded. The problem is almost certainly that Windows is not correctly identifying the device, which is almost always a problem with the device itself.
If the drive does work in another computer, be sure that it is formatted and put a couple of files on it and make sure that the computer can read those files - then try the flash drive on your laptop again.
If this flash drive works on another computer and still doesn't work on your laptop, try another flash drive on your laptop. If the other flash drive gives the same error, then you will probably need to repair your Windows installation - which is a job best handled by someone with more experience unless you are willing to risk whatever else you have on the laptop by just doing a full reinstall of Windows.

Insert the device and restart the computer. Does it shows a "removable disk" icon in My computer? If it does, go to the properties and click unblock, may it's block. If that doesn't work, then just reformat.

same here. As long as what I've got hooked up does what I want it to do, I just ignore it. I say that if it's not affecting your computer's performance, then just leave it alone.
