My Toshiba Laptop was setup to create automatic "System Restore Points"...I simply went back to the system restore point one day prior to installing the Iogear Bluetooth software: (my computer>accessories>toshiba tools>system restore).
I now have my Windows XP Welcome Screen back - -any changes or program installations I've made after the restore date will need to be reinstalled or reapplied, but I didn't have much on the laptop anyway, since I had just got it!
I would suggest backing up any files or data you may want to save before doing the system restore on any computer (maybe on a flashdrive or sd card, someplace other than the harddrive - then you can select what you want to install - excluding the culprit that caused you the problem). The system restore option will backup certain system files - notifying you of the new filenames after the restore has completed.
If the system restore process doesn't work, you do have the option of 'going back' to the last system settings, or trying another 'System Restore Point'.
If any desktop or laptop pc has a 'System Restore' option, I highly recommend turning this feature on....it may prevent a lot of headaches and problems!
One suggestion - BACKUP your system somewhere before making any major changes to your system...especially before installing new applications, or even before changing your system profiles or connectivity options...so many things can't easily be 'undone' !

Three things, there's a possibility that the driver was not properly installed or the compute was not properly recognizing the device or the device could be defective.
The proper driver installation of this device are as follows:
1. Make sure that there's no other Bluetooth drive installed in your computer. If there is, uninstall it first.
2. Load and install the CD without connecting the GBU211.
3. If you get a message saying "There's no Bluetooth device found", just click "Cancel" but you will notice that the compute will continue installing the driver.
4. After installing the driver, restart the computer.
5. Connect the GBU211 while the computer is rebooting.
If you will get the same problem, try to use the driver that is posted on the Web site, here's the link:

What is the operating system of your computer? Can you tell me the exact model number of your Bluetooth Adapter (it usually starts with GBU)?
Check the link below, and see the system requirements:

You need to check also the system type of your computer (32 or 64-bit OS). Some IOGEAR devices could only support 32-bit OS. If you are running 64-bit OS, that could cause the problem.
Try to uninstall the Bluetooth driver. Reboot the computer, then reload the installation disk that came with it. Once the hardware wizard ask you to plug the device it, just continue the installation, BUT DO NOT plug the device.
After the installation is done, reboot the computer again, the PLUG the device in WHILE the computer is shutting down. Once the computer comes back up, then it should install the other necessary driver. And that should work.
Good luck!
