The dryer makes an electrical buzzing sound but the drum doesn't spin. I can spin the drum manually, which I never could before the problem started. Model GE DBVH512EFOWW

Hello,
it could be the motor ,or perhaps the belt is broke but sounds more like the motor since ge uses a belt switch so if the belt were broke it would not even make the buzzing sound.
get some help from someone in the house and set the timer to any cycle, open the door and push in the door switch then have the other person engage the start switch while you rotate the drum if the dryer runs like that but wont start with the door closed and engaging the start switch as normal the start winding is bad on the motor and the motor would need to be replaced and the cost of that is about equal to a new dryer
Good luck!!

Michael00256 (that's a great name by the way). several things could be going on. If you can gain access inside the cabinet, you'll need to do that.

The problem could be in the motor, with the belt, or a few more things.

Electrical on but dryer does not start

Sounds silly, but because it's an electric dryer, it's run on a 220 line. Double check your breaker box to make sure both breakers are in the correct position. If only one breaker is in the correct position, you'll have electrical power, but the drum won't spin.

Ld lg3788w gas dryer drum won't turn

not a good model number, most likely you have a broken belt as long as it starts, heats but the drum doesn't spin,if you get a buzzing sound and it doesn't start you could have something stuck in the blower wheel, the motor is jammed or the motor is bad,you can open the door, push the door switch in,spin the drum with your other hand and have someone push the start button,if it starts you have a bad motor.

My dryer's drum doesnot spin freely. when i push the start button it trys to turn . but it doesn't it makes a buzzing sound then shuts off

could be a couple of things ,, first check the drum belt, and the tensioner (idler arm) if they seem ok,, then you need to remove the drum and check both the support wheels and the plastic strips on the front of the drum,, with any luck its one of these things, if not, your motor is just weak, and will no longer support the load on it and will need to be replaced

Hello,
Those symptons (humming/buzzing ¬ starting) are 99 out of a 100 times a sign of a motor that has locked up.

it could be the extra weight on the motor and the motor is bad,try this, open the door, push the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other hand and have someone push the start button,if it runs and most of the time it does because you're helping it along you need a new motor.one more thing,if the filter is in front, remove the duct that the lint filter slides into and spin the drum,if the blower wheel moves with the drum you have a bad motor,if it doesn't you have something stuck in the blower wheel and it jams up the motor because it's attached to the motor shaft.

Drum Won't Spin

Sounds like either the drum belt is either loose or is broken, otherwise the motor may need replacing.
