Mitsibishi WD-62526. When a bright movie, show, game etc is on it looks ok but when something dark comes up (example walking down the street at night, or anything with it being dark) the picture is almost gone. This happens a lot. The TV does look way better at night then during the day, a lot of light comes into that room with sky lights and a big window.

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected

SOURCE: Tv brightness

I just bought an e 62525 on craigslist for $300 dollars. The guy had it in his garage because of a degraded picture... white out haze and virtually no black ... I surfed for similar issues most referring to the light engine. However; going back to basics. I removed the front panel assembly (approximately 16 screws including the center panel surrounding the card/rca ports in the front). The main mirror was spotless (in itself missleading) but the projection lense and the smaller mirror were frosted over with 3+ years of fine dust. I cleaned them with a simple cloth. I also noted that the foam insert surrounding the lense had gaps due to age which allowed excessive light sepage (the white out problem). I repositioned the foam as best I could. Then simply stuffed a black cloth over the foam but firmly arround the lense (keeping the foam intact as well). This blocked "all" light sepage. Bottom line is that I now have a picture quality that is flat out incredible! This is one bad mutha (shut yo mouth) tv. P.S. I'm just an average guy with an electric screw driver.

SOURCE: Picture is very dark

its probably the lamp going bad. dark picture is a pre-cursor to failure. these lamps are supposed to last 2-4 years but for some reason the mitsubishi ones never do. you can replace the lamp yourself, and if it is going bad, you can cool it down, pull it out, and you will see it will look kind of bulged or white in the bulb part. instructions are in your user manual. if it is under a year old, mitsubishi should still cover it. if its just over a year, you can try to call them and complain and maybe they'll back it up. let me know if you need further assistance.

Wd-62526 just replaced lamp when there is light background i see pink and blue color circles

Likely reflections off objects in the chamber behind the screen. If you didn't have them before, your installer may have mis-seated or bumped something or scratched off some black paint. If possible, with a cold bulb, check for fingerprints--will require partial disassembly and writing down where everything came from and a near-clean room. Wipe the "glass" with a microfiber cloth when done. Some line the inside with black absorbent cloth to prevent reflections--must not fall into the optical path. (Duvotune [sp?] comes to mind.) Check with AVSforum for your model to see what others are doing. Time again for me to check on my DLP model, which has a blue blur when there is a bright white light in certain areas due to reflection off ring around optics, just didn't seem worth fixing as it only shows up in 1 scene in "300" for a few seconds. -Ken

TV shuts off with high color images . Example: explosions,bright lights etc

Normally, the screen control being up a little to high, would cause this problem. If no one has worked on this unit when it started may be a sign of something else, for example, the 200 volt line may be running a little low. Check the brightness and contrast for starters and if that doesn't help, then, the screen control would be my next step. Hope this helps.
