To set timing please follow these steps: Step 1: Wipeall surfaces of the camshaft and the crankshaft. You need to have all surfacesclean in order to find the timing marks made by the manufacturer at the time ofengine assembly. The timing marks are one of two types; a round indentation ora short, 1/4-inch long, chisel mark. Step 2: Locateand identify the timing mark on the crankshaft counter weight or the camshaftgear. Different model engines will have either of these two locations for themarks regardless of the vertical or horizontal orientation. The crankshaft mustbe installed into the lower engine cavity first. Step 3: Slipthe bearing end of the camshaft gear into the bearing hole. The camshaft gearwill have the round indentation stamp on the end of the gear. Step 4: Rotateboth the camshaft gear and the crankshaft simultaneously to align the twotiming marks. This process may take several attempts to fit the gears togetherand properly align the timing marks. Ensure the interior of theengine cavity is clean and no foreign residue remains before sealing theengine. Hope this willhelp you. Good Luck.
