TomTomGO Worked fine until connected to computer since which it has only shown picture of TomTom with red circle, white cross flashing and what appears to be a cd or something in right hand corner. Have carried out all the instructions on screen and just can't get anywhere. Tried reset button and no joy with that either. Can you help? It seems to be a common problem, looking at other peoples enquiries. Went onto computer to down load TomTom Home. We have a TomTom XL. We followed instructions and were told to disconnect the TomTom. When we did that we got an error stating we had disconnected improperly. Now we are unable to do anything on the device. There is a large X in a red circle which flashes.  ??

You have to reinstall the software in to the GPS receiver.

For that you have to check it with your dealer

I have a tomtom one europe 22 have a flashing white x in a red o

Usually an X on the screen indicates that your GPS (navigation) software is no good (corrupted, etc.).
If TomTom support is not able / willing to help you to download and install the navigation software, you're likely out of luck. If you are able to re-install the navigation software (& map) and you are still getting the X on the screen (of your TomTom device), it may mean that the (storage) memory on the TomTom device is faulty. You can try to connect your GPS to your computer and see if you can "repair" the TomTom (storage) memory (disk). That would usually just block off the bad areas, so that it will not be used. Then try downloading and installing the software and the map again.

730T - tomtom home hangs when checking for updates - mac

Hi - have had the same problem - if you look on the tomtom website and support they have a list and one is flashing red cross. You need to follow the steps to format the tomtom. I did this and it worked and it included the update. i havent reconnected since i have it working now. I think its a software problem with HOME. Make sure you do a back up on home and make sure you follow step by step. close HOME before you start to reformat and also in the preferences turn off the automatically connect to home when you plug into your computer or it keeps flashing up on the screen to correct. the only solution is to format it. i bought mine two days ago and the first one stuffed up so took it back for a replacement. this one worked when i turned it on but turned out the flashing cross appeared when connected to computer (i have a mac). good luck

I have a tom tom 720 after connecting it to my computer. it will not turn on a white cross in a red circle keeps flashing

Ah, another case of the Red X. No worries, it can be fixed. Most likely your connection was interrupted during an installation or removal of software features. Follow this guide to get your TomTom back up and running.

TomTomGO

hello, The CD symbol in the corner is to show that the internal hard drive has a problem searching for or loading files. If your lucky your hard drive will be OK but somehow you have lost or corrupted data. If you made a backup copy of your hardrive sometime in the past then now might be a good time to reinstall that backup. If your'e unlucky then your hardrive is shot and the only answer will be to replace the drive. This can be done at reasonable cost by obtaining one from a defunct MP3 player or similar nano , Ipod type that has a suitable microdrive. Scrapper types of these can be found littering Ebay , but of course keep in mind the risk that these too could be damaged. Good luck , hope it all works out for you.
