Dark black spots around the edges of LCD TV

I'm having a bit of a problem here...I have a Memorex 32" 1080i LCD TV which is about 8 months old and I just noticed a dark black spot at the top of the picture. From what I can tell, they're not dead pixels because it fades to the actual picture around the edges and it is slightly transparent. Nothing has been spilled in it nor has it been touched or bumped. I've tried applying pressure and holding a magnet to the area but that has done nothing.

Also, you can't tell in the picture, but just above the black spot is a little patch of "clear" area where you can see some of the picture. Sort of like a "U" shape. Any ideas what could of caused this, or better yet, how to fix it?

Thank you!

When I first power up my Hitachi Plasma (Wall Mounted) it just shows a blank dark screen but as it warms up over 15 minutes the picture finally jumps into life after building gradually in faded colours. Once running it is fine except if we turn the AC on and the set cannot handle sudden changes in temperature and blanks out after imilar period of around 15 minutes. I either have to turn the AC off and restart the TV to keep it going or periodically tunr TV off and on again until recovered.

I have a 32" Sanyo LCD TV and I have a dark spot on the edge of the screen. It sticks out about 1.5" of the side. I don't know what caused it but I think the problem with the LCD TV is different than the problems you are getting with your plasma TVs because they work different. Just like problems with burnt images, LCDs the image don't get burnt but sometimes the image will stay do to pixel memory. This eventually goes away on a LCD. On a plasma a burnt image will always be burnt on the screen.

This issue is tape from the edge of the panel falling onto the screen. You will have to remove the cabinet and the panel from the bezel(front cabinet).remove the screws from the lcd outer edge. Take of the tape.Be very carfull of the ribbon cable that goes to the lcd controller and to the lcd screen itself. They break easy. If you do , its over. you will need a new panel. to much money and work. best to leave it alone.I have fixed it several times for people with warrentys. It is just anoying but will not hurt your tv.

check the settings and see if he has any CC1 or CC's activated or any type of Closed Caption. The only time something like this happens is usually when you have it set for CC2 or something along those lines.

I have a dark spot on my samsung full hd tv (not LEDtv)

You could possibly be dealing with a failing LCD panel. I've seen many of the dark spots in Samsung sets and it's due to defective LCD panel tabs. The only true fix is the replace the panel which would cost more than a new TV !!!

Lcd covered in water, semi circles at bottom of screen

could be pressure damage from objects at it, hard to say, usually the glass would have spider cracks around each presure spots, but LCD is soft so the pressure damage explains what happened.
If the spots are near the bottom the liquid may have crept upward from the edge , try a hair dryer on a spot and see if it changes indicating liquid is still in there.

TV issue

There are many causes for spots on top of an LCD rear projection tv, you are probably in the first two cases, both require part replacements and repair job.

If the spots are faint blue, green or pink shadows, then it can be a problem with the anti polarization panel placed on top of the LCD.

Similar spots (colored shadows) may be caused by a problem with the light engine, in that case the fix will be expensive.

If the spots are bright lights, like an aura, that is a problem with the color wheel.

Problems on the light tunnel can cause static gray shadows.

If the spots are static dark stains than that is lcd liquid, the LCD panel must be replaced.

Big grey/black spot

Is it a fuzzy spot or an actual hard edged black spot?LCD televisions can have a loss of pixel display- most very small. Was the TV hit with something or dropped against something (the screen)?

OR Try this first:
Black box appears on the screen
• Closed-captioning might be on. Check the Analog or Digital Caption option in the Setup menu.

Please let me know if your problem is solved. Thank You.

Dark spots on tv

I have the same TV, and I was getting the black spots on my screen as well. It is dust settling on the bottom mirror. Yoiu can call Mitsubishi and spend 150-200 on getting it cleaned, or you can do like I did and take the front panel off and the 10 screws around the edge on the back of the black plastic border around the screen. Then lift up gently and have someone hold the screen for you and gently dust the bottom mirror. I did this by myself, but it would be wise to have 2 people do it.
