Not freezing. coolant line gets cold then warm after compressor starts

Hello - From what you have described it sounds like you might be experiencing some form of sealed system issue or a bad door seal. This can include the compressor not working correctly, the evaporator fan not turning, or even coolant in the lines not at the correct levels to properly cool. If the compressor is running, humming, or even a little warm then that is typically normal. However if the compressor is running hot, then it is over working and the issue could be before the compressor in the evap fan, coil or coolant lines. Trying checking if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check the door from closing then replace the gasket. If any proves to be ineffective, you would need to contact your manufacturer and then a professional to move forward accurately.

Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.

if its not freezing at all as in warm,check the rtc overload relay/contactor on the compressor body,the compressor may be running only on the start windings and cant operate this way,if this is it it may sound like its running,but will be very warm and sooner or later it will destroy itself from heat,if its somewhat cold,it may need defrosting you need to look at the evaporator core and see if its iced up real bad so cold air can't flow over the open coils,then it could be your defrost control or heater on the evaporator coil thats bad

why not then when its down to zero shut the unit off and open the lid and free freezing...no electricity required....remember pop machines sit out in all types of weather

If this is a self defrosting freeze,then it is normal to periodically see an elevated reading during a defrost cycle. At 20 degrees, it was probably ready to complete its defrost cycle and come back on to return it to your cold setting.

Might try unplugging for a few hours and then plug it back in. There is a possibility that it slugged the compressor and there is a restriction in the line. Sometimes when the compressor fails to stop running in cold air the liquid gets back to the compressor. It can cause a bit of gunk to be picked up out of the oil and carried to the expansion line and plug up the line. Maybe turning it off will let the plug fall free and not replug the line. Worth a try anyway.....
