Go to the menu and you'll find lamp timer section.

I think my bulb blew out but I do not have an instruction manual and I'm not sure how to replace the bulb. Can I get a copy of the manual for the VIVITEK DLP TV RP56HD21-B?

Web site was no longer available last time I checked. HOWEVER...if you go to www.fixyourdlp.com they have step by step instructions. It is really quite simple. I have changes mine twice in the 5 years that I have my 56" Vivitek. Start out by unplugging the TV. On the back you will see 2 screws to remove the lamp door. Once open you will see the lamp holder which is also held in by 2 screws. Once they are unscrewed the canister and lamp can be removed. Use rubber gloves when replacing the bulb. You will need a phillips screwdriver and a needlenose pliers. There is one phillips screw on the side of the bulb to remove and a nut on top that needs to be removed. Pay attention to the 2 wires connected to these points and be sure to put them in the same position when hooking up the new lamp. Once the screw and nut is removed, you will see a spring clip extended from behind the lamp to the front of the lamp container. It clips in the front and the tention holds the lamp in place. Remove the spring clamp and the lamp will come out. Put your new lamp in place, replace the spring clamp as it was (This is the hardest part because of the tention of the spring and getting it back into the cutout **** for the wire spring), then replace the nut and phillips screw and you are ready to plug it back into the TV. Be sure to replace the lamp box properly. Look at the 2 wire connections and align it with the connections inside the TV. Once inserted, tighten the screws on the box, replace the lamp cover and tighten those 2 screws and you are finished. Plug your TV back in and turn on your TV. NEXT...remember to reset your lamp timer when finished. That is done with your on screen menu. Go to System Info and look for "Reset Lamp Timer". Once there, select "YES" to reset the timer to zero.

Vivitek 51 DLP HD HDMI

You should have checked the troubleshooting section of your manual!! Okay, enough scolding. You need a new lamp. I do enjoy my Vivitek, but this is a definite downside of a DLP, especially if you watch a lot of TV. I am on my third lamp already, and they are NOT inexpensive. If you have your TV less than a year, your lamp may still be covered under warranty and may be replaced by Vivitek for free. If you have to buy your lamp, it can easily cost you over $200. This is the new lamp in a whole new assembly, which makes installing it EXTREMELY EASY and will just take a few moments. If you are a little more adventurous and want to save some money, you can buy the lamp alone. You then remove the lamp assembly from the television, open it up (there's several screws to remove), disconnect the old lamp, and reverse the process by making the proper connections with the new lamp and putting the new assembly back together and back into the television. It sounds more complicated than it is.. Biggest rule.-- don't touuch the surface of the lamp with your bare hands. You don't want your oils on the lamp. . And once you put everything back together and restart the TV, reset the timer for the lamp (the manual explains how). The lamp timer is very important for warning you of when to replace the lamp under ordinary conditions, when it does make it through its entire expected life. I don't know if it's appropriate to actually recommend specific vendors for the lamp, but I can if that's okay. email me midlomiss at yahoo dot com
